Scoreless at the half. Both sides have had good scoring chances. Marshall had the majority of the possession. Couple defensive lapses led to good chances for Providence.
To overtime we go. After we scored to go up 1-0, Providence dominated the rest of the half and tied it up in the 84th minute.
And we lost in the 2nd OT. Lost the magic in that FIU game and just didn’t play well since. Tough to go out on a 3 game losing streak after being ranked #1 in the country.
Maybe next year. A little embarrassing to be the defending national champion with most of the previous years players and fall so flat.
Last season was lightning in a bottle. Not sure what was in the bottle the last three games of this season.
Maybe a shortened season? They just won the title in May. Like trying to repeat within a few months.

Disappointing end to the season. Looks like we are going to lose a healthy amount of our starting lineup this offseason as well. Grassie may have his work cut out for him next year.
Where on Earth did you get “happy” out of that? There’s a big difference in what it was, which was disappointing, and what you claimed it was… embarrassing.
Soccer is a sport that lends itself to close matches. Last season, we found ways to win them all. This season, we lost two close ones. The losing streak at the end of the season was disappointing. Losing so many players to red cards really caught up at the worst time, which is virtually 100% our fault. But that team was FAR from an embarrassment. They put a star on the crest and left a legacy to push the program forward.

This little ass university in WV having a nationally prominent soccer program is never embarrassing, win or lose.
Looks like tired legs and a drained squad. It's hard to maintain the intensity after a national title run. How many teams repeat as national champs in anything? It's very difficult.
These kids did what no other Marshall team has ever done or will ever do. They represent the school with class. You won't seem them getting arrested for drugs, or punching a gay man, etc.
