Men’s Soccer Goes Down

Sometimes the better team loses, in this case the way better team lost.

ODU got two goals on two corners that we just decided not to defend.

We also had probably 8 shots go 6"-10" wide.

Marshall/ODU
Shots: 25/8
Corners: 19/3

Grassie will not at all be happy with this loss. He's already threatened of benching players, and with the first goal being a direct result of a defensive mishap, we just might see it.

How many fans showed up? If the stands were full, then that's the objective now for Herd sports. Packed house is the new 'win'.
About 1500 there. Better crowd than I thought.

The mentality and feel of the soccer program is totally different from football or basketball. They expect to win, play a tough schedule and hold themselves to a higher standard.

Don't see either of that from the other programs. Just turmoil, bad decisions and excuses

It won't... That's the luxury of having actual success in your sport.

Go to multiple NCAA tournaments, win a National Championship, be prepared to make the tournament again this year... And you get a pass on a rare unexpected loss as a head coach.
Yep. Not to mention being ranked for 3-4 consequitive seasons.

Also the fact that after every loss and draw this team comes out playing some of their best soccer. Hell, this was our first regular season home loss since before the pandemic lol. Expect this team to bring it all to Atlanta Wednesday.

The soccer team takes losses personal.

At least 50% of that time spent in the top 10, and probably 20% spent in the top 5/number 1 too.
