I think it would be awesome if Whiteside who is a free agent would end up in Houston. I really believe he would be a great fit for the MDA system. What do you guys think?

Probably not a fit unless you just want him to set screens and get rebounds. He'll never see the ball because the shot is gone before he gets in any kind of offensive set.

Could be, your post is confusing. Can HW shoot threes. Every time I tuned in to see Winslow and Deng, Hassan was on the bench usually with foul trouble.

I can see him being a great add for the defense and a fluent floor running Center like Amare was

Houston probably has a goal of getting rid of Dwight Howard.

It would be awful stupid to bring in a similar type player.

Supposedly, Howard was on his way out of Houston regardless. Its been said he hated Mike's system and hated playing for him when both were in LA (Lakers). Howard appears to be a very talented player but one who wants to do what he wants and not play within any coaches' system!! Hasn't won a title anywhere he has been, I believe, and doubt if he ever will. I'm sure Mike D has no concerns whatsoever about his pending departure from the Rockets!

He can opt out of his contract, which I think he'd like to and become a FA. However, he's scheduled to make $23M, which could make him a Top 5 player in terms of money. He's not getting that in FA with how he's played and with the stigma of being a team killer. Plus, the money in the NBA is going to explode in 2017.

Howard would be better off opting in to that $23M, finishing out that contract, then signing one more big deal while he can. Which if that happened, he could still request a trade. It would work for Houston too because they could obtain assets for him in a trade. Howard opt-in, get his money, get traded to a team he'd like to play for (I'm sure he has a no trade clause), and Houston get some assets in the process. It could be a win-win for both parties.

Whiteside is known for defense - Mike D'Antoni, not so much. I wish nothing but the best for the two but other than the Marshall connection, there's not a lot that would make me think that would be a great pairing.
