We will not see an uptempo and high scoring machine like the (2012-14) seasons until a mobile (QB) is at the helm. Go Herd!

Sure, what I mean is that when I look at the offense at that time, our numbers were video game insane. There was constant tempo, Cato ran the offense with pace, keeping the football and running on option reads. We don't get that with Chase. No tempo, no controlled fast pace. Other than designed roll outs, when was the last time keeps the football and runs on option reads. Gus Ragland had no problem with that last night. I'm just saying based on observing Chase. It's almost as if he scared.

Ragland is far better. He had torn his acl. He came out of cinncinnati moeller as one of the nations best. Birdsong had not got hurt last night might have been chase littons first start.

Ragland had zero FBS offers outside of Miami coming out of Moeller. "One of the nation's best" seems like a pretty big stretch.

Thats what i get for talking after a miami alumni. Hey he tore that acl his senior year and people didnt want him. Miami was 0-6 then enters ragland. 6 straight wins and lose to miss st 17-16,after they a missed a field goal to end the game.Ragland played his 8th game last night. He will get alot better.Hope littonn paid attendance last night to Ragland. I gave litton a C. He did make some nice throws.

This article makes no mention of Ragland tearing his knee up during his senior year of HS:

In fact, it says he had a great year but still no FBS offers came his way until Martin got the job.

Well i got wrong information. The fact is he has revived miami with a great turn around. . Dontae Wright graduated with my daughter and played for miami and I followed him.I respect their program. Stuff with the herd has been blown out of the water. Even in the 66 to 6 loss to them it could have been 100-6. I dont wanna argue chris. I will give you the boot off this board if you dont play nice. Lol. Thanks for the info. Sorry for the wrong informationm

Treadmill I agree with you about Litton may having some "fear" (rather than scared). IMO he probably does not want another lick like the one he absorbed against Akron last year.

Our offense will NEVER be as effective as it could be as long as Litton does not present ANY threat to tuck it and run, even if only once or twice a game. Hell, pull it down, head for a hole, and do the slide after 2 or 3 yards.

Just watched the Stoops show with highlights of the Southern Miss game. UK's QB was effective running the ball, if only occasionally. Fakes a hand off to the back, takes a quick step back as if to pass, and quickly then sprints up the middle for a td as the SM's d-line guys try to loop around and collapse the pocket. Chase has done it before; check the highlights, few I know, of our loss at N Texas last year. He faked handoff, then went up the middle for a td, virtually untouched.

He had a chance to win the game, he blew itm

They are now streaking again at miami...2 losses in a row.

While rakeem could certainly improvise and keep plays alive, let's not get history twisted and act like he was Tommy Frazier running the option. People had many of the same complaints until his junior (if not senior year) that he wouldn't pull the ball, couldn't run, etc.

Hell, I don't even think we're running read option now, looks like straight handoffs to me.

As an aside, miami's qb ran it really well. He'd ride the RB halfway into the hole it seemed like before he decided to pull it.

Just watched a great game where the value of having a quarterback who can, and will, run was on displayed. Redshirt freshman QB, Jackson of VA Tech set up a vital TD with 46 yard to the WVU 4 yard line. Out of 330+ total yards Jackson had 101 rushing. WV QB Grier also kept several WV drives alive with his feet, and ended up with 52 net yards rushing out of nearly 400 net total yards.

Meanwhile, back in H-town, MU's OC and QB are still trying to figure out the meaning of the word "option" in the Herd's so called "read option" offense!!

Some of those plays are gonna get VT's QB killed. I saw the game and VT's QB had plays designed for him. He has just ebough athletic ability to make the defense look to him to run. But some of those plays put him at risk.
Grier was just improvising 90% of his runs because nobody was open and he could run but it wasn't designed for it. Plus he really began running late in the game when the VT DL was basically standing up, gassed from the game.

One thing about VT that irritated me was their horrendous lack of balance in pass/run plays. Once they adjusted that, wvu had a hard time keeping up. Tech set up a nice blueprint on how to beat wvu and what to expect.

Then again, the Big 12 had a pretty crappy weekend so far...so it'll be Oklahoma vs. Whatever sacrificial lamb team to help OU make the CFP in their title game.

West Virginia/Virginia Tech was a good football game. Both (QB's) were elusive and to be quite honest, Grier was a lil faster than I thought. I only wish Chase would do the same.

OU's chances for playoff probably will abruptly come to a screeching halt in Columbus this week. Probably leaves OK State as only Little 12 team with any real shot for the championship playoff. But WVU fans will continue to insist that B12, a league full of porous defensive teams, is on par with the SEC, ACC, Big 10, etc.

Correct. Actually, most of Cato's "zone read" plays were called handoffs to the RB. There was no read going on. He was great at predetermining a pull near the goal line, though.

Yep, former MU signee Hakeem Bailey nearly broke Jackson's leg on the TD run with a great hit in the open field near the goal line. Jackson was probably feeling that hit yesterday. Jackson could end up being a good one, but all it takes is one play to end a promising career.
