I knew when I got up this morning that getting a meal out on Christmas Day would be nearly impossible. So I sat down to browse through the TV channels. One station was playing A Christmas Story and there was the scene where the Christmas dinner was ruined and the family ended up at a Chinese restaurant

I did a check of local Chinese places, and sure enough, several were open. Had a very nice meal.

Since I've been so fortunate to live so far away from family and old friends for the last 40 years, I've been eating an incredible Chinese dinner for 39 of those 40 years on Christmas day. I missed out in 2022, because I made the mistake of going to Middlebury, Indiana, to eat with my old lady's extended family, some of which are still Amish. Great food, pies, and fabulous biscuits, but not an alcoholic beverage to be found, and they didn't even have the TV on. I'll never do that again. Went back to sweet and sour soup, egg rolls, and some extra spicy beef with broccoli. Will eat that again at halftime of the Ravens game.

My wife and I have gone for Chinese or Indian on Christmas Day for the last 16 years.

Anybody ever heard of the tradition in Japan where it’s customary to buy KFC on Christmas?

No but admittedly kind of cool.

It really is. The Japanese love American culture. There’s a six part series on Disney+ called The Imagineering Story. It’s really good. The first episode talks about Walt Disney and how he came up for the original concept of Disneyland, and how he used his creative engineers to build everything, which he dubbed “Imagineers.” One of the later episodes talks about when Disney (the company) built their park in Japan. The Japanese wouldn’t leave them alone until they agreed to build a park, and they wanted a facsimile of Disneyland. They wanted a drag and drop because they love American culture so much.

It's nice to hear that the Japanese like us. Too bad the democrats don't.

They must not have any Popeyes franchises in Japan. Come to think of it, they probably don't have enough brothers to support Popeyes. I'm thinking this is why they don't do well in hoops.
