MU at ECU moved up to Aug. 29

This is a very nice thing but they didn’t commit to the game being on ESPN so don’t get upset if it’s not on the mothership.
They announced it would air on one of their platforms.

That is an easy way for them to say they acknowledged the 50 year anniversary and not feel any obligation to host Gameday on the anniversary.

ECU is on an espn station at least 2-3 times per year.

Even so, pretty cool to be the only Div I game on in the country.....viewership will benefit from that alone...

AAC vs. CUSA - - BIG DIFFERENCE!

ECU, an also ran in the former league, on an ESPN outlet 2-3 times a year. Meanwhile the very elite of the latter, CUSA, hope, pray and struggle to make it to Facebook, Stadium, etc., ever so often!!

ND vs Navy. That will be an NBC game from Ireland. This will probably be a late morning game on the East Coast.

Hawaii at Arizona

NMSU at UCLA

Cal at UNLV

Hopefully these will be late(r) starts on the East Coast and Marshall will get the solo attention.

Other than ND - Navy. None of those have much appeal or the story behind the game that ours will. Hopefully we will be on ESPN2 or the U.

Good move by all involved. Week 0 games prior to this announcement were lackluster. Two rivals with a history unlike any two teams in college football. Multiple storylines here. One, you obviously have the 50th anniversary of the crash. Two. You have the story of Jaquan Yulee who if everything goes right will be playing after his neck injury almost derailed his career and almost changed his life. TV networks like stories that appeal to people aside from just the game itself. The national stage is a great setting for this game between these two teams. It would have got lost in the shuffle during the first week of the season where there's multiple games with national implications. Plus you have some extra time to prepare for Pitt at home. Despite some skepticism, despite the way the season ended in 2019, I have no reason to believe that these Sons of Marshall won't be fired up for this game.

It will be a national TV broadcast according to multiple outlets... Because they haven't named a game time yet, and MU/ECU is the only "Week zero" game on the east coast, my guess is it will follow Notre Dame and Navy... ESPN could have a nice little triple header to start the season.

I would venture a guess that the TV schedule will look something like this...

2 p.m. - Notre Dame vs. Navy (from Ireland), ESPN - Do Gameday from Dublin, big lead-up, etc.
6 p.m. - Marshall at ECU, ESPN - Obviously hit college football fans in the heartstrings, nice tribute, etc.
9 p.m. - Hawaii at Arizona, ESPN - Fun, high-scoring west coast game.

Actually on regular ESPn platforms at least 4 times a year with conf play and new schedule.

It will be on ESPN 8, Thee Ocho. Subtitles in English.

I was about to say the same thing! Holy John Marshall, some of our fans bitch a lot...

I’m quite sure that it has to do with being sick of losing. Look at the history in C-USA. Marshall has won about 2% of all conference championships. 2%! That includes about 6% in football and about 3% combined in men’s and women’s basketball.

Considering those sports have some of the best facilities in the conference and a huge advantage with Marshall’s lackluster admission policy, it is entirely inexcusable.

Then, add in the failures of most of the other sports, the horrible television package, the mocking/chastising of fans by the AD, what was once our best program now losing to horrible/new programs, and the athletic department’s acceptance of it all, and it’s completely reasonable to understand the attitude around here.

Completely agree. Very bad performance.
