Upstairs hvac unit went out. Have to get a new one. New regs put in place by Mush mean they have to replace my air handler also. Changed refrigerants and regulations. Drove prices way high with govt new green deal crap.

The hvac tech was even bitching about Mush Brain. Says he changed the industry and shot prices up.

We all pay for that crap...bastards cost me a few extra grand.

Same thing here. Cost me $27,600 for two furnaces and two AC units. Guy told me they couldn't just fix them anymore because of the green new scam.

Ate the burgers while ago and cost me $44 for two burgers, two fries, and two birch beers. Black dude cooking told me they expect prices to go back to normal once Trump has time to stabilize everything mush ruined. Told me he had a really cool blacks for Trump tshirt.

back, 2021, i think it was, right in the middle of COVID, i had to put a new 5 ton unit and air handler in to heat/cool my house for around $8700 installed. on the flip side, a local HVAC guy quoted me $16K for the same exact one. i ordered the unit from a warehouse out of florida and had a couple HVAC certified friends that are maintenance guys for a local school system install it. paid $8300 for the two units and gave them $200/each for the 2 hour install.

The U.S. has been phasing out R-22 Freon incrementally since 2010. We stopped manufacturing and importing it completely in 2020. I you have a pre-2010 unit that goes bad, you are screwed.

Even Republican politicians agree that R-22 destroys the ozone.

HVAC installation and repair are sky high. I kept having a capacitor go bad in my outside unit. Cost about $200 every time I called service. Last time it happened, I watched closely what the tech guy did. I have a friend in the industry who got me the part for$20 and the next time I have the problem, I know the simple steps to plug in the new part.

HVAC is the only one of those maintenance contracts I subscribe to. It’s saved me thousands over the years.

It's literally about the only maintenance contract I've ever actually made out on. Plus, when the heat goes out on a 20 degree Saturday night, they'll come right over and fix it. No service charge and a discount on parts. Being in the price setting business myself, I'm sure they bump up the parts a little before the discount, but it's really all about the immediate fix, and as we have all experienced, heating and air tend to take a crap at the worst possible times. Last summer, on a Saturday afternoon, stink bug had lodged itself into the AC and made the capacitor leak. Cost $200, by the immediate fix was priceless on a 90 degree August afternoon. Of course, didn't impact me much, as I was outside in the shade about 3/4 crocked.

Not sure what a capacitor does, but every time they pull a failed one out of my outside unit, it is all puffed up like a pregnant film canister.

Funny, I just had our furnace fixed. Was yours old as hell? I think ours is 14 years old.

Now, there was a couple of weeks wait on parts due to some ongoing supply chain issues. But that's fine, I just cranked up the pellet stoves.

What a screw job on mark-up. People should be ashamed of themselves.

That's a good deal for your buddies' help.

I think the HVAC said the heating and cooling was damn near 25 years old, which is well above its life cycle. I knew when I bought the house I was going to have to replace them, but wasn't thinking that kind of dough. Labor on these was a bitch, due to the attic furnace. Can't even stand upright in the attic. Was kind of surprised a couple white guys were sent over to do the job. Would have felt better if it were the Mexicans as they tend to do better work. I'll hire them to work on the yard come Spring since I also had to replace the outside water line.
