My black lung disability has no plans for spouces. I have medicare but switched to Baptist Health. I get a drug card and dental for nothing. Medicare would have charged me another 80 a month for those benefits. also medicare pays 80%. 100,000 dollar hospital bill would be 20,000 on me. Not with baptist health. 5800 is the most I have to pay. I do have to pick from a network of doctors. Kings daughter hospital is where i would go for something serious. Now how do i go about getting my wife insurance?For her to get help I have to file taxes. You dont have to file when drawing disability but that is not true if your spouce needs insurance. See the money the goverment would help my wife with is something they turn around and tax you for the money they paid on her insurance. I think its fair if they tax the money they give you. What is sickening so many people claim they are seperated and then the spouce gets that 100% insurance. No way I could ever do that. Being married 36 years is something Im proud of. I would go with a high deductible plan. Lowers your premium each mon the and owing a hospital 20 grand is better than owing them a hundred grand.

I honestly would not recommend a high deductable for anyone of a certain age or with children. It's great when you are younger and single. Weird shit happens to kids, and weird shit happens when you get older.
I'd add to this notion that high deductible plans with an HSA are good if you are either really healthy and rarely use health insurance OR if you are chronically ill and require expensive meds, treatments, etc.
