The information was released after a Freedom of Information Act request by The Herald-Dispatch.



According to the initial report from the Huntington Police Department, officers received a call at about 4 a.m. Sunday, June 25, surrounding gunshots heard outside a home in the 600 block of 19th Street in Huntington. The caller said he saw three black males run down an alley headed west.

Officers conducting a foot patrol in the 1800 block of the alley south of Buffington Avenue located a firearm, which later was determined to be stolen. Officers also found a plastic baggy in the alley containing 1.5 grams of tan powder suspected to be heroin.

Moments later, Cabell 911 dispatchers received a call indicating a shooting victim was located in the 1700 block of 7th Avenue. Dozier stated he was walking in the intersection of 19th Street and the alley south of Buffington Avenue when three black males came up to him and shot him.



The shooter was described a black male with dreadlocks and having an average build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with green letters.
