“Just believe us” is infuriating. Suggesting that a reporter is helping ISIS/Russia by asking questions should be a career ender.

I'm not an isolationist by any means, but the American people have been burned before with the whole "they have WMDs, trust us" and "the hijackers' support network was based in Afghanistan, trust us" bullsh*t. Maybe those events were enough for us to hold our leaders and the intelligence community more accountable for military action in the future?

We would need an avenue through which to hold them accountable, and neither major party has any interest in foreign policy accountability.
Remember that drone strike after the botched Afghan withdrawal? Not only did we not get those responsible for the attack, that strike killed an innocent aid worker & a family. Jeffrey Epstein’s guards faced more accountability than those responsible for that drone strike
