I agree but think the other guy would have been an easier confirmation. Bet he gets Justice Ginsberg's seat in a year or so.
Boring no-brainer. The Democrats will be stupid and throw a hissy. Granted, I don't agree much with the guy, especially on cash in politics (and the Founders would not, either), but he is no nut.
John Roberts was about as bullet-proof a candidate for the SCOTUS that we may ever see in our lifetime. And Obama voted against him. Not only will Democrats vote against a highly qualified candidate when there's no intent of retribution, but they'll make complete asses of themselves with this one.
He was confirmed unanimously to the appeals court. It will be interesting to see how many dems jump off of chuck schumers boat and vote to confirm him
To be fair, Trump could have nominated a dog turd and you would have praised his brilliance.
there is no citizenship requirement for SCOTUS so he would already get over that hurdle.
and he could have re-animated John Marshall, nominated him, and Chuck Schumer would have cried

This is not an opportunity to talk about difficult matters privately or in a closed environment. This is a circus. It's a national disgrace. And from my standpoint, as a black American, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to have different ideas, and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you. You will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U.S. Senate rather than hung from a tree.
what privileged white guy is gonna fight that. Trump should take a page and fill all his positions with ultra conservative black guys.

I don't believe that about most people.
The only two conservatives on this board that I would consider in that category would be herdman and raleigh.
On the flip side, extragreen is definitely the same way on the liberal side.
I would not consider Trump a hard core conservative yet I have supported him.
