New AD

I think our new AD will be a great addition to the university. I am excited about the future w/ the new hires we've had, our fb recruiting, and the move to SBC. I know some will say that I'm drinking the kool aid but I think great days are ahead for Marshall University. I hope people will give the new folks in our athletic department the benefit of the doubt and give them some time to show their talents. I'm amazed at how many posters on these boards 'know everything' and have all the answers. We'll see how things go in the next few years. I, for one, am very excited about out future, kool aid or no.

I agree with what you have post, and one must have some faith in Marshall's future. I will say that I believe they made an excellent choice. This in no ways a poor reflection of the super job that Jeff has done during as his intern acting AD but a new and fresh look and approach in the management of Marshall sports is very much needed as we link up with the other schools in the Sun Belt.

May everyone in Herd Nation give the new AD his support to make our school the dream school for bright future players to attend.

I for one am excited about the changes and look forward to new and fresh ideas. I also hope there are changes within BG to give them a needed dose of energy - to aggressively pursue new members of all levels.

I think DD will retire at the end of the year and the major turnover of the athletic department will be complete in a few months... New MU President, new AD, new football coach, new basketball coach, new athletic conference.

All you can do is have confidence in the new guys and the new league until they give you a reason not to.

I believe Christian Spears is 1000% qualified to be our Athletic Director. Did a great job at Northern Illinois and at Eastern Michigan then moved along to Pitt. Has a law degree from Ohio State. Unbelievable fund raiser. Go Herd

I hope you are right about Danny....but his public statements seem to reflect he wants another year!

Unless he has a miracle season, I say next year is his last. I just don’t think Spears pulls the plug after this season - for a number of reasons.
Having said that, if we don’t win any games the rest of the way, DD may decide to step down.
