New month; new rant

Halloween is over and I’m wondering how long it will take my closest neighbor to take down the tacky decorations. I’m not holding my breath because the inflatable swimming pool is still up over there.

I mulched all the leaves two days ago and it was a waste of time. New ones make it look like I did nothing. Downside of living in the woods. Right now I’m watching squirrels and chipmunks chasing each other through the front yard leaves. I never realized they ever interacted. Amazing the number of animals that roam here: squirrels, chipmunks, owls, vultures, black bears, raccoons, opossums, woodpeckers, turkeys, and a few creatures that I can’t identify. Those worry me.

No decent holidays left this year. I try to celebrate Thanksgiving, but there is no way I’m ever trying to cook a turkey. I even ruined a microwaved sweet potato last year. Christmas sucks and the New Year celebrations are anticlimactic. That is all.

the deep fried turkeys are pretty darn good as long as you don't burn yore place down in the process.

i'm going to give a smoke turkey on my traeger a shot this year, i think. hell, i'm not even a fan of turkey meat, but the family is, so what the hell, gonna give it a go. hope it turns out better than the dried out brisket i attemted a while back. first and last one of those for me.

i'm not a fan of brikset, either, but thought i'd give it a go. only thing worse than brisket is dried up brisket. people go crazy over brisket that's cooked correctly and i don't know why. it's one of the toughest and worst tasting parts of a beef. i understand if you cook it for a dozen hours, it gets super tender, but anything you have to pile seasoning on to make it taste half decent isn't for me.

I don't like turkey either, but smoked turkey on a Moe's style thanksgiving sandwich is absolutely amazing. I look forward to it every year.
