they either pay for parking at $20 +/- a day (buy a monthly pass for around $470), excluding the new fee, or pay $2 to $4 to take a subway ($34 max in a 7 day period, so around $136/month), or, if they're worried about safety security in the subway, pay for a bus ride for $7 (can get a monthly ticket for $132).

so, they can either pay 4+ times to take their own vehicle and risk getting it damaged, or they can pay substantially less. seems like a no brainer to me. what am i missing?

I think the general theme is you should be able to drive where you want in NYC without additional taxes.

That said NYC busses are the way to go. The subway smells like an old gym locker mixed with farts and you may have to choke out someone who’s threatening everyone.
