Interesting that the Pirates waited until other teams started hiring new coaches to make the move... Especially since he is an ECU alum and former player.

Needless to say their board looks like every board following a firing...

49 percent "Good McNeil was terrible and we deserve better"
49 percent "How could we fire such a great guy/coach/alum"
2 percent actual constructive discussion of the situation.

He was 42-34 in six seasons. Never won a league title and finished this year in 9th place in the AAC at 5-7. He had three years left on his contract.

I always questioned that hire to begin with BUT he has a few good seasons with them as we well know.

As we know, a good QB and WR can make a coach look awfully good. You knew losing Carden and Hardy would hurt them badly.

McNeill is not a good head coach. ECU can do much better. Does everyone remember the end of the ECU vs UCF game last year? Some of the worst inept coaching decisions I have seen at the end of that game.
