Northern Illinois is reportedly set to accept an offer to join the Mountain West as a football-only member beginning in 2026.

According to a report from Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, Northern Illinois’ board is expected to accept an offer to join the Mountain West as a football-only member on Tuesday. Per McMurphy, the Huskies will receive “substantially” more revenue in their new league, which they would join in 2026.
