Struggling with the FCS ranks.

So. Ala 32
USM 21

Cent Ark. 35
UAB 45

At least we are almost 4td Favs against EKU.

We have to (somehow) get out of the crappy conference.

Central Arkansas beat WKU last year in their home opener. They're one of the better FCS teams.

Not that I disagree - C-USA is on the border of FBS and FCS, with maybe some of our ass meat hanging over that line, such that it gets kicked from below from time to time.

We're juuuuust right above that line of People Spending Themselves Stupid to Pretend They Aren't FCS.

USM message board is a pretty good read right now... We think our program has taken a step back in the last five years, those guys have fallen off Mt. Everest and hit every rock ledge on the way down.

So. Alabama did not punt one time in the game last night and USM fans are prepping to go 0-10 and fire everyone for the third time in the last seven seasons.

Actually UAB was pretty much in control. Totally dominated the stats. They gave up some scores in mop up time

Just a wild guess,
But I'm thinking that Doc will find a way to utilize his punter early and often. After all, even punters need to earn their scholarships.

It was 28-21 at halftime and Cent. Ark had the ball with a chance to tie it in the third quarter... was 31-21 after three quarters... The only stat UAB "dominated" was rushing yards. Passing was about even and they won by 10.

Meister, did you watch the game? They were up by 21 with 3-4 min in the 2nd and gave up 2 TO that lead to scores. From then on it was tit for tat scoring for the rest of the game. UAB a team the was supposed to have a Top 25 D. It didn't look good.

So UAB, a team with a history that can be written on the back of a matchbook, easily handled a I-AA; and USM, a team that has been quite mediocre of late, lost to a Sun Belt team that most pre-season guides said would be "much improved".

OK, season over. No need to play. Shut it down, change the channel, fire Doc, CUSA sucks, we are supposed to win every game but doing so is no accomplishment, fire Mike, blah, blah, blah.

One time in basketball, from fourth place, we got hot in the conference tournament and someday it might happen again!!!!

Marshall football is not for you. Find something else.

Go Herd.

No, it wasn’t. UAB was up 45-21 with six minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Central Arkansas scored with 30 seconds left to make the score look closer than it was.

CAU is a good FCS program. Not NDSU good, but top 15 nonetheless.

UAB didn't look like world-beaters but some of you guys are overreacting a bit to last night's score.

UAB out-gained CAU 233-100 on the ground. That's more than dominating. That's another level.

They also had more first downs (29-20).

Total yards 459-293 (with 83 of those coming on a garbage time TD drive) were in UAB's favor by a wide margin.

UAB led in time of possession 37-23.

It's that time of year again when Sam comes out of hibernation and extolls how great CUSA is. The MAC isn't playing this year, Sam, so CUSA is way down there at the bottom

Right on queue, you show up to be a d-bag for no reason... CUSA football does suck. Has sucked for the past few years. And shows no sign of not sucking... Watch the games, the talent level is a lot more like the SoCon than it is the P5.

No one said a word about firing Mike, basketball, MU winning every football game, or anything else in your nonsense.

I will be there on Saturday to support Marshall football, just like I have for the past 20 years.

I must have not seen this flurry of activity. I changed channels 5 min into the 4th after a slow third. Then saw the final on ESPN.

CAU had a close on to Austin Peay last Saturday night. That was a game they probably should have handled easily. It took a final minute score to win.

I won't claim to be an expert on what Austin Peay has this year (although Athlon had them pre-season ranked 13) but last year they made the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs and finished ranked in the top 10 .

You'll have to excuse Sam. He can't help being the way he is. He is stuck in the 60's, in one of those huge IBM cabinets with the 2 spools of tape. Spinning a quarter circle, stopping, spinning another quarter circle. An endless loop of drivel, unchanged EXCEPT for the floppy disc update he received in the spring of 2018, which added the phrase "one time we got hot in the tournament & who knows? It could happen again." Hopefully, he can be upgraded to an Apple II in the next couple of years....Go Herd !!!

Box Score from Peay and CAU

Peay QB Oatsvall also serves as their punter.

Pass: 181 Yds

Punting: 267

PA: 14/31

Punts: 7 (Had half his completions as he did punts).

Only 16 first downs.

Hard game to watch.

While I have your attention, I say you make Herdman a full fledge Mod of Pullman. What do you say.

CUSA football does suck.

Then don't watch it then. CUSA football is Marshall football. This is obviously not for you. Find something else.

Umm, yeah, YOU just did. If CUSA football "sucks" then it serves to reason that winning games it it should be automatic, but yet no accomplishment. THIS is the sick illogic of the football anhedonians, unable to enjoy our awesome team and the great opponents we play. So sick, in fact, that you cannot even wait for the first game.

Go Herd.

Still trying way too hard. If you’d put that effort into those mud holes in your front yard . . .

You come up with a lot of dumb stuff, but this has to be near the top... Not only have I never said MU should win every game. In multiple threads, I have predicted MU to go somewhere in the ballpark of 6-4, which I am okay with given our QB has not taken a real snap. Better than that and I would be thrilled.

We are an above average program, in the worst FBS league in the country. You can lick all the jock straps in the Athletic Dept offices you want, but your blind faith doesnt change reality, or make you some form of super fan.

If South Alabama is a team to watch in the Sun Belt, then perhaps we should keep an eye on their Coach. They hadn't won a road game in something like the last 15 to 17 games, since 2017, and had won only 5 games total in the last 2 seasons!

I watched the the 1st of UTEP game. They are not a D1 program. SFU is dominating them.

#22 Josh McGowen on SFA went to Overhills High School in NC (before moving to Texas) with my oldest son and with our former walk on QB DJ Phillips.
