the team! Like the players are saying in the HD article......a ton of culture - French, Cajun, Dixieland Jazz on Bourbon St, ... I have never been & want to. Hoping we still feel it was a great trip into the wee hours of Sunday...Go Herd!!!

I've been there a couple times... As long as you stay in the immediate downtown, the French Quarter and Warehouse District, New Orleans is fun. Its when you venture outside those areas that it basically becomes a more humid version of inner-city Detroit.

The good news for the players and coaches is Im sure they are getting the best experience possible without the real world exposure to outlying areas.

I would add the Garden District to that.
Lots of big mansions.
You can ride the 100+ year old wooden trolley right through the middle.
WWII museum is there also.

Garden District, Food, Museum are about the only good things. Just not impressed with the other stuff. I find it a dirty city and not very pretty.

I used to go to New Orleans at least once a month on business back in the early 2000's (prior to Hurricane Katrina). As most have mentioned, the tourist areas, the French Quarter, the Garden District, and most things along Canal St. are fun and relativity safe. I will say the team and fans are going at the best time, as the summer months are miserably muggy and the city smells like a Porta John at Bonnaroo.

BTW for anyone who's going, one of the best seafood places I've ever been too is in Bucktown (which is north of downtown on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain) it's called Deanie's Seafood Restaurant and Seafood Market. The food is great and the portions are huge!!

Been to the Big Easy many times in the late 80's. New Orleans is a great place

I always wanted to visit NO. Walk through the above ground cemeteries, eat seafood, and study the unique architecture.
The only hold up is I can’t find a carrier that will take all 150 of my bodyguards on a single flight.

I think this is probably what you mean... I never went there before Katrina, but my dad says its like night and day. Was great pre-devastation and is now a shell of its former glory.
I haven't been there since Katrina but have heard the same. I was in the area about 3 years ago (Baton Rouge) and it seems as if many have moved there from New Orleans. Sad to hear this

As a resident of NOLA I'll give you a little helpful info.

Best charbroiled oysters...Dragos. Metairie is better than the FQ location.

Hidden restaurant treasure found in the Garden District on Magazine Street. Try most any restaurant. All unique and very good.

Breakfast at the Camellia Grill on S. Carrollton Ave. near the river. You can take the trolley there.

Don't know why anyone would say that. It's better than it was before Katrina.
