notre dame should never be ranked prior to week 4. In fact there shouldn't be rankings for anyone prior to week 4

Yes. 2 out of the last 3 years they have lost in week 2 to a G5 school.

Notre Dame has been overrated for 40 years. They will continue to be. Later this year, and next year and forever.

The most overrated program in football. Are they a good program? Yes. However they are not the elite program they're hyped to be. They haven't been elite since the late 80s/early 90s. They haven't won a national title since 1988, 0-2 in the playoffs, and haven't won a major bowl game since 1994 when the Cotton Bowl was a big deal if you don't want to use the Cotton Bowl then it's the 1992 Sugar Bowl.

They play pretty weak schedules, don't have to compete in a conference, and when they do make it to a major bowl or playoff game it's usually ugly. You watch. They'll be ranked in the top10 again next season. They have one "elite" games left on their schedule and it's the final game @USC.

This is why I hate Notre Dame and root against them every game.
