Now that we have a President

Nobody will want that job. Nobody will apply. We cant afford anyone. We cant...we cant... cant.

Jeff O'Malley has been here 20 years and loves Marshall. He is competent and a very approachable individual. My hope is that he is made permanent AD.

With Smith being a business man, I'm sure he will want someone who can build a program and also be good at selling it to the people.

Yesterday our new president spoke:
Former CEO of Intuit Brad Smith, who was voted in as the 38th president of Marshall University Thursday, promised to bring three mindsets to the position –“ dream bigger, deliver faster and define excellence.” Let us see how that translates in the hiring of qualified individuals moving forward especially for an AD. Our athletic department has been notoriously slow in those categories at times.

Our athletic department, as slow as it moves, moves much faster than our fans reaching for their check book to donate.

Absolutely NO decision about an AD until the realignment decision is made.

If we blow it, obviously, no person currently there is qualified to catch rats, and all should be fired. The correct AD would be a clean up artist who sees a way forward in CUSA 4.0. I do not see such a person existing, because I do not see CUSA 4.0 as a viable situation.

If we don’t blow it, then decide what kind of AD you want. Other than the never-to-be-built baseball park, our facilities are taken care of. As with a football coach, catch an up and comer who will put in 5 or so years and look higher.

He's led MU's BoG and as such, has completely mishandled MU's (I guess now confirmed) move to the Sun Belt.

No.
We just disagree. O'Malley may not be selected. He should be considered and I don't know what you know about his input into the decision to go to the Sunbelt. I would hope that he had some say as did so many others. He certainly did not have the authority to make this decision unilaterally.

Considering he's the Chariman of the MU BoG...I'd say he had some weight to deciding this.
He's a PR nightmare on Twitter as many fans were not happy with his "updates" which consisted of making MU look foolish by not getting the hell out of CUSA sooner when the opportunity came.

Considered? Yes. Selected? Hope not.

Where did you get the idea that O'Malley was chairman of the BoG?

Well well well...
Ferrell's the one I was thinking of.
Major brain fart on my end.
I admit my mistake.
How has the interim AD not been more vocal about MU's status? All he ever said was along the lines of, "he was excited and MU is a good brand and what's best for MU, blah blah blah..."
