I was just looking at the WVU board for the meltdown talk , fire the coach talk and low and behold what do I see...... Their obsession with Marshall in all it's glory. The first thing those jack ass's do when they lose is brink up Marshall. I work in Huntington with the dad of a local WVU player and it's the same thing...." What happened to you guys this weekend..." and the response is ALWAYS the same...." well what high school did you guys play this weekend." I love it, just shows you they realize the only reason they are in that conference is to be the whipping boy for the BIG 12. Boy, Ollie really hooked them up before he left...LMAO!

What I don't understand is their attitude of greatness? Many will refer to Rich Rod and granted they were ranked in the top 10 under his watch a few times BUT they always lost a game or two (Pitt) that would knock them from greatness. In essence they never reached the level of play they think they have. Being in the Big 12 hasn't woke them up to that fact yet, and not sure why.
In the comments section of our game on the WV Metro News site, Randal Lowe (obvious eers fan) says "There is nothing like playing warm up games all season". My question to him would be...How does it feel to be the warmup team all season?
West Virginia University Athletic Department has no one to blame but themselves. I would love to see a Western Kentucky/WVU bowl match up.
Hell yeah we would decline? I'm not speaking for all of the Herd fan base, but I enjoy traveling within a reasonable driving distance for Herd road games. As it relates to WVU, the old timers used to tell me, be careful watch you wish for. Good luck in the Big 12 Goldie!
To piggy back on my comments. The level of frustration with WVU Football has absolutely nothing to do with Marshall University right now. This boils down to the Mountaineers getting drilled on national television every week (almost weekly) and taking their frustrations out on lil brother. Go Herd!

No sir, I did not have a problem with Marshall University joining Conference USA. As a matter of fact I would load up the family and travel to the Universities in the beautiful State of Ohio. The directional schools in Michigan was a challenge at some points, but all of the institutions we are discussing in Conference USA and the Mid- American are in a reasonable drive for a family for Herd fans, in my opinion. Go Herd!
You do know that WVU's revenue share from the Big 12 was 14 million last year, right??? After 4 years they will receive a full share, which was 23 million last year.........

I don't fault WVU at all for taking the money. I would hope Marshall would take the money too. But if they did then as a Marshall fan I would realize there will be some tough years. Until the money catches up. Just because you jump up in conference doesn't mean you have to live in the basement for ever. If Marshall moved to the Big 12 I would expect us to suck for the foreseeable future, I wouldn't get mad (certainly not at teams that aren't our rivals) at teams that didn't jump up. WVU made their own bed. they have to lay in it. Don't get upset with teams that didn't get in bed.
I find it funny that Holgorsen was complaining about playing small schools but without them on his schedule, he very well could be 1-5 at this point.

And you can find no other program in the place to which WVU's non-alumni fanbase aggrandizes itself to that cares one whit about a program in the place to which it assigns MU. Anywhere.
This, IMHO, is related to just how much idiocy you have to buy into to follow WVU. Again pretty unique. Find a program in the slot WVU really is in. Read its boards. Follow its fans. Read its local media. See what its AD and SID say about things. Listen to its local radio. Fans? Yes. But realists. Realistic about what they are and where they are.
But WVU? Every kid was stolen from Alabama or Florida. Every coach was a genius who was up fro every job in America. Program is "self-supporting". Baseball park was not really 100% taxpayer money. Fanbase is (insert number here) largest (I have heard from 9th to 30th). WVU was "selected" to join the Big 12. The Big East "really" was major college football. Program has this long history. School is just slightly below Harvard. Having 65% out-of-state students is a good thing. Dumpster fires and general drunkenness alternately "really didn't happen" or "happen everywhere". WVU gets unique money from the Big 12. WVU's contract with IMG is somehow unique from IMG (or its rivals') contracts with every other similar college program. On and on.
And it is, especially in state, one big circle jerk of idiocy. They spew this idiocy at one another. They listen to Crap-ridi or read (those that can) Vingleberry or watch WV Media's micro-rated amateur hour news shows and have it reinforced with more spew.
And, they ACTUALLY BELIEVE this stuff. That is the pity. They ACTUALLY BELIEVE this idiocy.
And, but for the Marshall fanbase, right there in their face. Especially with former quasi-rivals Pitt and Maryland selected for geographically logical conferences. Just Marshall. And, as it has every single year, the cold douche of reality comes and defeat after defeat rolls in, all they have is "But Marshall.... blah, blah, blah". Pure obsession. Utter fixation. All they can think about. All they have.
Because it is easier to hate than to think.
