Meh. I'm not a Trump supporter but I don't see anything wrong in this situation. Sessions answered the questions correctly as they were phrased. The wrong questions were asked, though.

At his Jan. 10 Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Sessions was asked by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) what he would do if he learned of any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of the 2016 campaign.
“I’m not aware of any of those activities,” he responded. He added: “I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.”
I would take that question to mean didnyou have any contact with the Russians regarding the election

FFS he (Frankin) was talking about the election. He specifically asked Sessions if he knew of any Trump officials speaking to the Russians about the election. He carried the question over to Sessions. Anyone with half a brain would have answered accordingly. The Was Po article cherry picked Frankin's quote. He talked for several minutes specifically about contact with Russians in regards to the election. Check out Reddit. So when the Washington post gets their hands on the leaked phone calls from the trump administration there should be no surprises and he never mentioned anything inappropriate.

Much ado about nothing, but Sessions is right to recuse himself from any investigation into Russian contacts about the election, as he himself said he had been called a "surrogate" of the campaign. That whole appearance of conflict of interest thing, even if there is none.
