Opening Weekend 2016 is a Monster Sept3rd

Some great match ups for sure but would be better if they were on home fields in the college towns. Much better atmosphere in my opinion but money is unbelievable. It is just like all the big basketball match ups on neutral sites. While they can be good games the college on campus environment is much better for those games.

It will come to the point that the big colleges won't even need their own stadiums. They will play all their games at neutral sites in pro arenas. College football is screwed.

And people say we should get an FCS school to open the season.

We need to go on the road to a P5 for respect

I can attest an SEC v ACC match up in the Georgia dome is usually as good as any home atmosphere. It rocks. It "works" because it's a college football kick off classic. I still believe in home stadium atmosphere. U Miami is a perfect example....empty with no true feel.

Chick Fil A did the G5 v P5 with Boise State opening weekend v Ole Miss. Then did a "second " opener. I'd love to see them call us for a G5 vs middle rung SEC team. Miss State or even a mid level ACC team.

These big first weekend blockbuster games are now a permanent part of the college football system, as the sport has the day to itself with the NFL not starting until the next week. And the off-campus part of it is pretty simple if you follow the money. Students don't get in free and boosters can be hit up for more $$ over and above their season tickets and booster club platinum level donations, plus they can sell it to a corporate sponsor (i.e. the Chick Fil A Kickoff Classic) which they cannot do on campus.

We were part of this last year, with a nationally televized game vs a Big 10 team. We will be again in future years.
