Can you imagine, not having played a down of football after fall camp and almost the 1st of October you are given the encouraging word that it will only be another 37 days until the whistle blows??
There is no way these teams have any chance of performing up to expectations! 7 game in conference schedule...

And they'll probably expect a spot in the CFP.

With the lack of our strength of schedule for an undefeated Marshalll team our chances of getting a NY6 bowl game are slimmer and slimmer. With the Big 10 and PAC 12 returning it will be tough to be ranked. Meanwhile a couple AAC teams with a good strength of schedule will keep us out

We need to blow people out and hope the top AAC teams cannibalize themselves. Then there's BYU, Army and Louisiana to jump. Shewwww.

Guess that leaves the MWC and MAC as the only D1 leagues set not to play at some point?

First step is to win out, no matter who we play... Second step is to make teams look awful. MTSU, Charlotte, etc need to be absolute blowouts (I know Doc hates to do that, which is admirable, but not this year).

Then the help needs to come... We need Cincinnati, UCF and Memphis to all beat each other round-robin style and Army needs to drop a game somewhere. And that still may not be enough if the polls like a one-loss UCF or Cincy over undefeated MU.

Realistically, MU's goal doesn't change. Win out, win the CUSA championship, and let the chips fall where they may. Bowl season is going to be a big cluster--- anyway with more games than eligible teams, so who knows what bowl tie-ins will get traded around and swapped out.

First things first....have to continue to win and win the C-USA championship.

Have to be a conference champion to be the G5 NY6 rep if my memory is correct. So thing is just keep winning and sort it out from there. And like someone said above it certainly wouldn't hurt to have the AAC knock each other off along the way and their conference champ have a L in their record.

The first CFP poll rankings don't come out until Nov. 17, that's the poll that counts for the NY6....a lot of football between now and then. Just keep winning!!

Next game is gonna be tough. WKU gets to play and improve while we sit at home. They aren’t playing well but you can sure as hell bet they’ll play like Super Bowl champs against us.

win out win a conference title and maybe we get a shot at a P5 in a bowl. I don't see us getting a shot at the NYD6 slot. An undefeated season will get us into the Top 25 this year. A one loss who knows wouldn't bet that a 9-1 record would be good enough

Too bad the MAC doesn't make allowances for at least one OOC game; would love to see the HERD tangle with the Kitties this season.

As for those concerned with Army, don't believe their overall strength of schedule this season will allow them to get close to a major bowl or the New Year G5 bowl slot. Believe they may have at least a couple of FCS teams on this year's schedule.

Besides, one media source with early bowl predictions have the HERD and Army squaring off in the Independence Bowl this season

The thing to remember is the bigger bowls belong to the local gentry, whose original intent was to use them to try to boost tourism but now are dependent on Disney's money, the minor bowl belong to ESPN outright.

Therefore the determination of just how many bowls will be played will be based on two things. Where the panic/pandemic is by mid-December and when ESPN's pet and obsession, the NBA resumes its interminable idiocy.
