After the drastic decline in offensive output this past season, I was curious who the past OC's were when The Herd enjoyed program defining success:

I began with the 1992 season when Marshall won their 1st National Championship under head coach Jim Donnan.

1992- Greg Briner (Won 1st 1-AA National Championship)
1996 - Larry Kueck (Undefeated and won 2nd 1-AA National Championship)
1997 - Tim Nunez (Won 1st MAC Championship and played in 1st Bowl game in modern Herd history)
1998 - Tony Peterson (Won 2nd MAC Championship and Won 1st Bowl game)
1999 - Marty Galbraith (Undefeated, Won 3rd MAC Title and Won 2nd bowl game)
2000 - Ed Zaunbrecher (Won 4th MAC Title and Won 3rd Bowl game)
2001 - Mark McHale (Won 4th Bowl game)
2002 - Mark McHale (Won 5th MAC Tile and Won 5th Bowl game)
2003 - Mark McHale (First win over a Top-10 team defeating #6 Kansas State.)
2009 - John Shannon (Won 6th Bowl game)
2010 - 2012 Bill Legg/Tony Peterson (Co OC Tenure) (2011 Won 7th Bowl game)
2013 - Bill Legg (Won 8th Bowl game)
2014 - Bill Legg (Won 1st C-USA Championship and 9th Bowl Game)
2015 - Bill Legg (Won 10th Bowl game)

It appears that from 1996 to 2001 the OC position was a one and done, I don't know if this was by design or with great success comes great turnover. But whatever it was, it worked.

Kueck came back to coach QB's and take over as OC for a couple of seasons until Snyder gave him das boot.

and where are they now?
Greg Briner is a private QB coach, he's not on anybody's staff right now
Keuck, McHale , I believe are coaching HS football (McHale right over the mountain in VA I believe)
Nunez I believe is in private business in Texas.
Bill Legg is at Marshall

Larry Keuck called the plays when McHale was "OC".

zaunbrecher called the plays in 2000 and 2001. kueck came back in 2002 and "called plays" as QB coach, but in reality byron called most of them from the line.

kueck retired before this season after coaching the last few years at lamar.

it wasn't by design, kueck got offered the oc job at southern miss after 1996, tim nunez went to texas after 1997, tony peterson went to minnesota after 1998, marty went to nc st after 1999. then as i note below, zaunbrecher was here two years as oc (was qb coach in 99) before going to florida, mchale was here for 3 years as oc (was here as ol coach before being promoted to oc) before going to florida state, etc.

i think marty and tony were co-ocs in 1998.

ed zaunbrecher was OC in 2000 and 2001.

mark mchale was oc in 2002, 2003, and 2004.

larry keuck was oc 2005, 2006, and 2007 (may have co-oc title with mchale during his stint).

john shannon was the oc in 2008 and 2009.

Yeah i forgot about the Coach Z years you are right. Either way, the McHale OC title was largely ceremonial, at least on gameday.
