This is what he told Keith Morehouse.

"It's certainly flattering for people to think of me as a potential head coach candidate. However I am enjoying coaching my boys and raising a family in Lexington. I am extremely grateful for coach Holliday's contributions to our program. It is certainly stable and moving in the right direction. I also think it is an exciting time to be a part of Marshall football. I am looking forward to supporting the next head coach at our great university."

Chad has stated multiple times in the past he was more interested in coaching high school football so that hey could help develop boys into young men and give them the tools they need to be successful at the next level.

He also has said even if he ever entertained coaching in college it wouldn't be until his boys were out of school. He's also commented about how he'd hate hitting the recruiting trail.

Seriously, who would really want to hire a HC without any College or NFL coaching experience?

Very smart of Chad to send this message out now.

Chad is a really smart guy, Rhodes Scholar, etc... He isn't interested and very tactfully took himself out of the conversation. I would like to see him on the search committee (as long as its not a total circle jerk for big money donors and the Governor).

Chad doesn’t need to work. Why would he want to be the AD at Marshall, or the coach? He made plenty of money in the NFL and invested and saved wisely. He has kids playing, he’s coaching them. Just be happy he does and says the right things and continues to be a great son of Marshall. It’s going to be hard to attract someone to Huntington. The city is dying a slow painful death.

Well shit, just burn it down and move Marshall to Charleston.

There are only 119 head coaching jobs at the highest level. There are plenty of qualified candidates.

Stop selling this wonderful program short!

Any potential coach is going to look at why the old coach left. He was fired after a bowl game 8 of the last 10 years and after going 16 -5 the last 3 years in conference. That is not a big attractant.

You may be right but if you quoted what you wrote to a potential hire then that person would know that we aspire to something better. If a coach was not interested in trying to better the program then he wouldn't be much of a hire, imo.

Don't look at the overall record. Look at the losses that happened, when they happened, who they happened against, and the consequences of those losses. Therein lies the reason we are looking for a new HC.
