Reports coming out that she listed her race on as American Indian on ther application to the Texas Bar.

You really can't make this stuff up.

Mexico will pay for the wall.

I'll be the best jobs president God ever created.

I won't benefit from the tax cut.

I'd have won the popular vote, but 3-5 million illegal immigrants voted for hillary.

I know more about ISIS than the generals.

I won't have time for vacations.

Obama isn't a U S citizen.

So, because Trump's a liar, Elizabeth Warren can't be one?

Seriously though, what's your point?

My point is that if you're a trump supporter/defender, you should just keep your mouth shut and/or not post about something relatively trivial someone else did.

yehhh political slogans and campains are the same as saying you a a freakin' Indian. Go get some help, man.

Well, lying to the state bar is a crime. Lying in general in day to day conversation is not.

Did she actually believe she was part Native? Families make up these stories and the shit is never verified.

If I had a dollar for every person that has told me they are part Native, I could take a nice vacation. And I think they really believed it. I heard this fairly often in WV, which was a hunting ground without large population when the white man arrived. Except for 06 and herdman, both of whom would elicit laughter if they claimed to be Injun.

It's kind of fun not being sure what is lurking in my genes. Maybe I will take one of these tests. Of course, this will mean I will never be able to get away with a crime, which kinda sucks....you never know when you might want to rob an armored car.

Telling someone they are part Native American isn’t remotely close to the same thing as putting it in writing

Why not put it in writing if you believe it to be true? Beyond the point I think it is dumb to even solicit such labels, if doing so is going to be a thing you might as well take part. Let's be real: if you and I knew we were 1/8 Native, we'd ride that shit to the bank if we could. Anyone would, especially those of you who are bitching about her.

My family has stories of Native American blood. Several paths. My father became exceedingly interested in his more English History and ordered a DNA ancestry report. Came back at 4% Native (2% Oceanic, 3% African, 4% Native, and 89% Western European, 2% of everything else), which is about 1/25 and not too bad.

Due to all the reports in my family prior to this, when I applied to Law School, I considered placing Native as my race. Then determined that without proof, I should not use family stories to identify myself into a protected class. Instead I put Caucasian, knowing that my matriculation was far more guaranteed had I gone the other route.

This is my problem with her. Even in the 80's, she knew that a clearer path to matriculation, graduation, and accolades existed for protected classes. As a result, she decided to use her perceived protected status to get ahead without any regard to its veracity. It frankly isn't the type of thing I want in a leader.

In before "but Trump" who I did not vote for and actively campaigned against. None of which is apparently important because he was elected as a member of a political party that more closely identifies with me than the other political party in our ridiculous binary system.

You didn't honestly believe it. But did she honestly believe it? That's what I want answered. If she honestly believed it, I don't have a problem with her claiming it. Oklahoma makes it different for me, it's not like being Native is rare out there...far from rare, it's 7% of the population (vs .2% in WV)...and would probably have more people claim their ancestry is not for some local biases about natives.

. If Trump did the same thing,

I haven't said a word here about Trump lying about being of Scandinavian origin.

It's not a defense, it's a question. No one here seems able to answer it. And no one here wants to admit this was something cool to claim for a while (God knows none of us honkeys would claim black, even if we were 25%).

Oh horseshit. People only worried about being "legit" when the gambling shit started. You live in NC, don't try to pass this horseshit on here.
Seriously. You have to be accepted by the tribe. You can't just say you are Indian. Well, you can but you are not in the tribe.

FYI, the Lumbee Indians are not federally recognized. The Cherokees are.

Well yeah, but most people didn't bother being accepted until there was casino money. People would say they were Indian but not bother with the tribe shit.

If my DNA test turns out part black, what tribe can I claim? Slapahoe?

Just an FYI I did the ancestry DNA kit and found out I was 5% African. The rest was Eastern and Western European. The region of Africa that had the most of my DNA was Kenya. Now if you see me I am literally one of the whitest people alive. But according to the Democrats on here I should be able to claim I’m black.

You know she was playing the system. There is no if ands or butts about it. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

Man you would you just stop with trying to make excuses for her? It's painfully obvious to everyone on here what you're doing, you closet liberal. I have clear and legit proof of native american heritage in my family, but it's also too far back that I would look like a fool if I tried to claim it. She knew better than to make a claim to something (of which she would receive special treatment) due to the... ya know, as lawyers say, "burden of proof?"

Or are you also an expert in US law?

Almost every person of European and Asian descent has approximately 2% Neanderthal DNA in them. When early man migrated out of Africa they mated with another group of hominid, Neanderthal, that were already stomping around Europe and Asia. Everything goes back to Africa though.

Not that I'm going anywhere with this or even making a larger point. The whole idea of a preferred or pure race is pretty ridiculous.

The implication that an attorney wouldn't use something to gain an advantage is laughable. If not, she's a horrible effing attorney.

I don't know what US law has to do with it. She's not claiming sovereignty, or to sell Native crafts.

I am honestly curious if she truly believed she was Native. That is a question I have not seen answered anywhere. If you have the answer, link it. If she truly believed, I give her a pass (but not my vote). If she truly scammed, then fvck her.

I do think it is all silly.

guess i'm not just anyone, i've never talked about my native american heritage to really anybody that i ever recall. and, i've never used it to better myself. and, based on reports about pocahontas, i've probably more injun blood than she does. so, there's that . . .

personally, i think she's a pathetic piece of shit, both for using the one thousandth of a grain of indian in her to better herself and just as much for that pathetic video she put out of her drinking beer in her kitchen. "enjoy your beer!" christ, that was difficult to watch.

she tries wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too hard to be accepted.
