Depends entirely on who knew and when they knew it. Problem being, there is likely enough degrees of separation for Trump to have plausible deniability (absent an email chain, or something similar).

So if I understand this correctly,:
A. No one was paid
B. No meeting was done, although offered
C. Opposition research
GUILITY PLEA forced by former FBI guy
vs
A. DNC/Obama Lawyer/Clinton Lawyer pays for a Dossier to be created (Opposition research)
B. Dossier turned into FBI to create an investigation
C. We do not know if meetings took place, or anything else....hush hush

Yes. He is like 30 and wasn't that high up. He lied about making income to the feds. That is what they are charging him with. He got scared and lied. Lying to the FBI is a big no no.
