Is "President of War" a new office? Shit, I might run for that one.
It's a play on your words "President of no war". So there must also be a "President of war". I have a quirky sense of humor.
But your post is also kind of misleading, as we are not "at war" with all of those nations. We are at war with a certain element of Muslim. Which I thought conservatives support, so unless you suddenly became a hippy you seem to be barking up the partisan tree.
On another note, I give Obama credit for being in office as we have changed warfare. We have moved away from all-out war (which is very expensive) to drone attacks, Special Ops action, and cyber warfare. Which is probably the best way to combat what we are currently fighting, these bastards are like cockroaches and you don't burn down the house to kill roaches. . At the same time, we have not neglected (contrary to what Republicans claim) our actual overall ability to wage full-scale war. We are building two new aircraft carriers with a third planned, we have introduced a brand new platform of fighter (which has had teething problems, as has every new fighter since the F-14 so don't bitch) as well as a couple of naval ship platforms. There is still no nation that can fvck with us. And I am not going to waste an hour typing about what we are now researching with drones, but it is revolutionary and quite frightening for what it can do.
Trump's number one military priority needs to be modernizing our nuclear delivery systems and technology. That's the missing piece and it has been kicked down the road long enough. Unfortunately he didn't even know what the nuclear triad is, so here's hoping he gets up to speed on that shit.

I agree with all this. I'd just add on the SOF side, something needs to change. SOF is a finite force yet this admin has used them as anything but. I'm not bashing Obama for it just like you don't bash Coach Jackson for giving Jordan the final shot. I will say the current admin tried to violate two of the four SOF Truths - SOF cannot be mass produced, and, competent SOF cannot be created after emergencies occur. The former was stymied by SOF itself, the schoolhouse wouldn't compromise quality for quantity, which is the 1st Truth. The latter is a wreck. A few years ago SF Groups (Army), got plus-ed up by one battalion, then that got cancelled, then approved again. Two years ago there were a shitload of SF Captains and Majors, and some senior NCOs, looking for jobs simply because the new BN was chopped. Same with MARSOC. Marines wanted SOF credentials, finally got them around 2008, and almost lost it all a couple years later. MARSOC got cut from under the USASOC umbrella but now they're back online. At least their critical skills operators are. MARINE03 could shed light on this I'm sure.
My point is SOF has been overused and confused by Obama. It's a cheap win for him. SOF can accomplish a short term mission with a small footprint and everyone cheers. If he deploys a BN of conventional forces people start raising eyebrows.
There's a disconnect here and I don't the answer. It's an interesting problem to talk about though.
