From the HD this morning...

" He walked through the Cam and came away with a list of 70 things - literally 70 - that were ideas and thoughts, " Smith said.

"I looked at him. They were the same things Coach D'Antoni and fans and student-athletes have mentioned to me."

I said, "This guy gets it. He's got a big vision and attention to detail."

Oh man I was hoping he would come in and quote the typical West Virginian line. We have no money we can’t do anything, WV sucks as a state.

In case anybody couldn’t tell I’m being sarcastic. It’s nice to hear he has a lot of ideas and a lot of things he thinks he can accomplish. That alone makes me excited we got him.

Sounds like corporate America. Employees tell the executives the problems, the executives spend hundreds of thousands of dollars (or more) on consultants and are told the same thing.

Not to get off topic but I never could understand the fascination with consultants. I've never heard of one coming in and actually providing feedback that lead to a positive change for a company. Management has dozens of "consultants" in house if they would listen to them objectively and not take everything as a personal attack. jmho.

Leave that up to Sammy.
Hardly. If we are talking Henderson Center, then we are talking men’s basketball. There is literally nothing we need to succeed beyond all measure in men’s basketball, in either CUSA or the step down that is the SBC (look it up, it is a yet lower level conference in basketball than CUSA).

No need to poor mouth the school, the city or the state. We have every reason to expect to dominate in basketball.

We just need to demand better.

Which means fire DD.

I think they can definitely play a valuable role, especially when it comes to implementing fixes and new processes. I do agree companies tend to view/value internal feedback much different than when it comes from a consultant, now this may be due to the consultants credentials or it may be due to biases you have built by working with the individuals for years. It is similar to when someone close to you (spouse, parents, kids, etc) provide feedback you do not necessarily want to hear vs someone with a little bit of distance.

I've been a big fan of consultants ever since I saw the movie Office Space.
The absolute brilliance of this scene is just how accurate it is.
The Bobs are there to increase productivity and improve the workplace and everyone before Peter, was defensive and felt they were a threat, while Peter was brutally honest with them.
He said he's a good worker and wants to work hard but doesn't see the point if he isn't benefitting more and (sound like the bigwigs at Marshall) "does just enough so he won't get fired."

Issue is, if someone were as brutally honest as Peter is, that'd mean a potential clean slate of the upper heads at the MU AD. Would they want that?
Better yet, would anyone actually be motivated enough at MU to do more than what they're doing "just enough to not get fired"??
