Maniac- I had a sibling go to Marshall. He told me they used to be called the Gang Green. How come they switched it to Maniacs?

I'm currently a senior at Marshall. I've also attended WVU, and I have to say that it doesn't compare to what I've experienced since becoming part of The Herd. The people, the campus, the university, the game atmosphere. It's so incredible here at Marshall. Make sure you're available to go the fountain ceremony.

Sounds good Celt. Kinda wish we didn't adopt the same name for our student section after they did though. 
Is this one of those sites where you get called a troll for having an opinion? Didn't realize this was Facebook.
There are a few guys around that definitely hate that other people have opinions and they get really pissed that you're allowed to them.
They adopted the Maniacs because even without university sponsorship, we had a bigger group of people participating. So instead of reinventing the wheel they came to us wanting help getting something started. And careful about the Maniacs name...Maniacs were at Marshall a few years before WVU. WVU wasn't even the first "Mountaineer Maniacs." Appalachian State had them 2 years before WVU.
Herd dat hope your years at Marshall are full of championships and you haveing the time of your life. Good luck and stay in the books! The paper ones not the face ones!
Facts or not I still think it shouldn't be the same name. I personally like Gang Green or even the Herd Ons. Guess the latter probably wouldn't fly
