Printable Roster....

Speaking of our football roster. According to an article in today's Charleston paper, of the 19 players the Herd signed to football grants in aid last fall, only 13 will be eligible this fall. 3 will be redshirting/academically sitting out this fall and 3 never made into school for whatever reasons. That's approximately one third of last year's signing class. IMO, such a percentage rate for 3 or 4 classes in a row would certainly explain how the Herd could end up thin in certain positions or lacks experience/depth at other spots every season.

Shurod Thompson was never part of the 2017 recruiting class. The only signees who aren't on campus are Janiero Crankfield and DeCavilon Reese. 17 out of 19 made it to Huntington - which for us is a very good percentage. I've been VERY critical of Doc's past classes having a high percentage of guys who never showed up at all but the 2017 class doesn't fit that profile.

Plus, in addition to the 17 previously mentioned, Doc brought in Koby Cumberland (Michigan State commit) as a NQ and Oklahoma State WR Obi Obialo. Obialo is eligible immediately because he was a w/o in Stillwater.

Looking at the roster and where everyone is from, I'm kind of surprised we don't hit up the Myrtle Beach/Greater Horry County area more. Conway High School has several kids with D1 offers already, same for Dillon High School, always a good player or 2 out of Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach High Schools. A stud QB by the name of Doty down there. They don't all go to Clemson or South Carolina. It's like the Newport News/Hampton area of Virginia when it comes to athletes.
