MOSCOW —Russian President Vladimir Putin praised President Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria, describing the American presence there as illegitimate and the Islamic State as largely defeated on the ground.

Putin said the U.S. troop deployment to Syria was illegitimate because neither the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad nor the United Nations had approved the U.S. mission.

Russia has been negotiating a political settlement to the civil war in Syria with Assad, neighboring Turkey and Russia’s ally Iran.

Good, as we don't need to be the Middle East crowd control force. Let the savages kill one another. What we do need though, is MORE MEXICANS and HONDURAN GANG MEMBERS infililtrating the streets of our country. Just say no to THE WALL. We don't need a wall to make it harder for FINE MEXICANS and OUTSTANDING GANG MEMBERS to get into this country. We have hard working AMERICAN CITIZENS that are willing to flip the bill for their welfare and medical needs.

In 2020, we elect ourselves a SOCIALIST PRESIDENT. We must have free stuff for EVERYBODY. WE ARE...AMERICA!

No problem with 6000 troops to protect us against "The Caravan".

"We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,"

There you have it.

cheetos's policy both home and abroad is determined with a top secret, beautiful, made in America ouija board.

Don't believe everything you read.

Finally, what do you guys want? You want troops left in all these places or you want them to stay?

What they want, is to argue against anything TRUMP happens to do. Wipes his ass with Charmin? They're for cheap Kimberly Clark tissue. Screws beautiful women? They're somehow against that.

Didn't you start a thread about this very same question a few short weeks ago?

Didn't Cheetos blast Obama for withdrawing troops and blame him for ISIS? And the cons agreed with Cheetos.

Didn't you cons agree wben Cheetos sent more troops there?

The only thing you think is right, is whatever Cheetos does.

Word is those troops are being pulled for rapid redeployment somewhere else.

I'm all for us not being the world's police but we're turning on our back on the Kurds who've helped us fight ISIS.

I believe the fine gentleman from Michigan has a valid point.

I am asking you? One day you all want troops out and the next you are bitching because Trump pulls them out of place like Syria.

That is why I said don't believe everything you read. And, I don't disagree with you.

I am happy to see us pull troops out of there. The warmonger democrats in here want them to stay

authoritarianism/fascism 101.

Get a load of this: WTF?

Trump's call with Erdogan resulted in a flurry of notifications to the Syrian Democratic Forces over the past two days, according to a person familiar with the administration’s current Syria deliberations. SDF officers on the battlefield weretold to prepare for the departure of their American military advisers.

“Trump’s guidance after the call was ‘end this now,'" the person said, adding that the U.S. envoy to the Syria conflict, James Jeffrey, "tried to slow-roll it and was stomped on by POTUS.”

Also after the call, the U.S. military set up observation posts this week aimed at ensuring that Kurdish fighters pose no threat to Turkey along its border.

The whole thing is a shitshow.

The $3.5 billion Patriot missile deal was greenlit to Turkey. Turkey integrated Russian S-400's into their air defenses. This has bad news written all over it. I'm pretty sure Turkey isn't allowed to have Russian arms anyway, are they?

"No collusion."

I'll guess we'll see in 2019 if Turkey gets the S-400. How about this gem:

Turkey had pushed hard in recent weeks to control damage from the S-400 decision. Two of the people familiar with the discussions said Turkey had floated the idea of offering U.S. technical experts the chance to study any S-400s that it purchased from Russia.

I have to say the Turks have balls playing us and Russia on this one.

I am asking you?

You didn't ask because you really wanted an answer, you asked so you could post the following quote....

One day you all want troops out and the next you are bitching because Trump pulls them out of place like Syria.

You, yes you, agreed with the Afghanistan war (I didn't see much of a choice either) and you agreed with the Iraq war, something I was against from the beginning. You agreed with the U S being in the middle east both of W's terms, agreed with W's agreement to pull out in 2011 except when it came time to do so, then you blamed obama for allowing it to happen. You've been just fine with troops in the middle east under the 2 years of cheetos UNTIL he announced the withdrawal yesterday. If cheetos announced we were going to invade Russia next week, you'd agree with it and say it's about time somebody grew some nads.

Wouldn't you agree with invading Russia since you believe in all this Russian collusion stuff?

Trump actually leans toward Isolationism.

cheetos leans toward idiocy, he's nearly horizontal now. I personally don't have a problem with getting out, but if you can't admit that the way he's gone about it, then you're nearly horizontal also. Now it's being reported he's going to do the same thing with Afghanistan.

Have I said I agree with it? I told you he is basically an isolationist and really always has been. He always said he doesn't like the long, drawn out wars.

My guess is that is why he and Mattis are parting ways.

In addition, don't know if this has anything to do with, but the military is moving to a bigger force made to fight in Europe. IE larger, heavy armor, mechanized, made to fight large land battles.

I am not sure about this Syria thing.

Neither is cheetos.

“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.” Dec. 19, 2018 9:29 a.m.

“….Russia, Iran, Syria & many others are not happy about the U.S. leaving, despite what the Fake News says, because now they will have to fight ISIS and others, who they hate, without us. Dec. 20, 2018 7:16 a.m.

The military has been ordered to begin planning to withdraw about half the troops in Afghanistan, a US defense official with direct knowledge tells CNN.

The official said it could take months to do a withdrawal of the approximately 7,000 troops.

The decision was made Tuesday, at the same time as the decision on Syria.

The Wall Street Journal was first to report the plan.

You happy about this too, herdman?

No, I have never agree 100% with everything.
