Rakeem Cato, the highly regarded QB from Marshall University, has been released. Despite putting up solid numbers opening weekend, his locker room presence had proven to be too disruptive for the team.

Owner Gregg Fornario said: "Cato is a terrific QB and a great competitor but he wasn't seeing eye to eye with the coaching staff so we felt it was best for the team if we went in a different direction."

Oh, Rakeem. Not good.

Fired from Montreal after they bent over backwards for him. Also fought his teammates a few times
Fired from coaching Miami Central
Arrested in Miami on a fugitive Gun possession charge out of tallahassee.
And now fired from 2nd level Arena Football team.

Man talk about having it rough after college

Looks like he needed the guarded enrivonment of Doc and company...Hope he finds it again somewhere else.

Sounds like a few of our QB’s sought shelter under Docs wing. Sad to hear.

Only 12 more jobs to go and he will catch your post-college number.

A few days ago, Rakeem posted a picture and comment on Instagram that wasn't exactly a compliment to the coaching staff. I am sure that played a part in this.

Well Cato screwed himself with Montreal. That contract money is probably gone. Couldn't leave Miami life alone while working in Canada. Kept flying back home...for what? He lives on FB. He will always be a legend here, sad story. Looks like a 30 for 30 candidate in 15 years.

Ahhhh I knew I would be on your mind when I wrote that

Maybe we should put our QB prospects through a physiological analysis.

Not shocked especially with the stories that came out his senior year with him and shuler

In a better ending, former Herd basketball player Antonio Haymon has spent the last seven years playing professionally in a variety of countries including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Thailand, and Oman. Haymon had a very similar, heart-breaking childhood to Cato's.
Yes, he has. I got to know Antonio rather well when he was here. He would stop by the house. His biggest problem was alcohol. He has done quite well for himself and I'm proud of where he has come from to where he is now.

I used the term "sheltered stars" for individuals who are given special privileges
after their athletic talent is discovered.
