Rasheen Ali

Third string RB for BGSU? That, or below, the top two freshman. He'd have to earn his way back if Huff is who he claims to be.

say what? If he was hurt, most coaches have a philosophy that you don't lose your job because of injury?

Ok, if not, you have a tryout this week and by thursday he at worst 2nd string. Cmon.

Can we finally dismiss these tailgate rumors of knee scopes and such? A speedy return would be difficult, bad for his heatlth and future. NGL, this news is shockingly exciting! Lets GO!!!!!!

I love our fans. Every time a player isn't playing there's always a dark reason. There's more pages debating if Ali is a legit prospect than there was during the biggest game in Herd history.

Now we are reading a post questioning Huff's integrity if Ali doesn't have to earn his way back and then a questioning the timing if his return.

I can't wait for the "Ali's a cancer in the lockerroom" posts. That the usual next escalation.

Boy, some folks can make an argument out of anything. No one challenged Huff's integrity; he has always said folks earn their way onto the field, there is no favoritism or granted positions. I merely implied that is what he'd do and if he meant it he'd do it now with Ali. But hey, interpret away. I expect him to do it, questioning his integrity would be expecting him not to do it IMHO.

It's an interesting question and I've thought the same on where he'll be slotted on return. Laborn shouldn't lose #1 spot, IMO.

Laborn will start right now. I think Ali will need to ease back into the rotation while he is recovering.

Exactly. A running back who hasn't had contact in at least a month is not going to start. I'd say IF he is ready to go this week, that 8-10 carries would be good.

I think this Ali & Laborn duo will do great.. Laborn runs over people and Ali “floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee” We have a coaches who knows how to work this 1,2 punch and a QB who is so accurate he can capitalize on one on one coverages when the box is stacked for run! This has the potential to be an beautiful season. We have to take it one week at a time on don’t overlook anyone… everybody wants to take down the big dog and we’re on our way!

Ali not on the depth chart for BG. I didn't think he would be. We'll see about Troy.

A few points that need to be noted...

1. Most coaches, trainers, team doctors, etc want to see a kid for a week in practice as a "full participant" before they are going to put them in a game situation. That said, I would be doubtful Ali plays at all this week.

2. We have plenty of capacity to give both Laborn and Ali carries. If we are going to run it 40 times a game, and we should because that is what we do best, they are both going to get plenty of chances. When Ali comes back, I would guess he will get 10-12 carries initially with Laborn getting the rest (maybe Payne for a few in short yardage) and Huff/Trickett can adjust from there as the season goes on.

3. Running back is a volatile position due to injuries. There will be weeks going forward where one guy or the other is a little nicked up, doesn't feel their best, etc. After the ND game, I doubt Laborn feels like a million bucks this week. Having both of them will be a blessing.

I feel like both O & D lines need their own thread! Both played lights out. O line was a bit of a ? mark in week 1. Heading into week 3, no ? !!! Conference play is going to be a battle every week. A far cry from what we are used to!!

Unfortunately, we are used to battles every week in conference. Battles with FIU, MTSU, Charlotte, etc when they shouldn’t have even been on the same field. It’s a new day in Herd Land.
