Recruits rating by recruiting services

It appears to me that Rivals ranks football recruits generally lower than other services. For example, I did some research on Damien Dozier, Doyle Grimes, and Ty Tyler - all rated 2 stars by Rivals. In all of the other recruiting services, i.e., ESPN, Scout, and 247 Sports (their own and their composite of other sites), these three were given 3 stars. Questions:

(1) When a recruit commits to a school other than a p5, does Rivals drop them a star?

(2) Is Rivals just a "tougher" grader than other services?

(3) Does academic concerns play a role, and if so, how does Rivals make that judgement?

I certainly don't mean any of these questions to be pointed. I'm just curious. I know people on this board will say, "Ratings" mean nothing and in some cases the ratings are proven wrong. My response to that is, if that is true, why do Ala, OSU, Fl State, etc., recruit mostly 4 & 5 star recruits?

You guys are doing a good job. I love the "Herd Nation catches up with........

Thanks - JKSTHERD
