Huntington, W. Va. -- The Big Green Scholarship Foundation announces a special guest speaker for the Huntington Quarterback Club Luncheon on November 12, 2015.

Red Dawson, Marshall Football assistant coach for the 1970 Thundering Herd, will join Head Coach Doc Holliday to commemorate and honor the 1970 team.

Dawson was one of the few members of the team who was not on the plane; he and Coach Gail Parker were on a pre-planned recruiting trip. Dawson was named acting head coach until Jack Lengyel was hired as head coach in 1971. Lengyel persuaded Dawson to stay on as an assistant. The 1971 season, in which the Thundering Herd won two emotional home games, was Dawson's last full season.

“We are thrilled to have Red join us on Thursday,” said John Sutherland, Executive Director of the Big Green Scholarship Foundation. “This has been a special week on campus and in the athletic department. We will continue to cherish what a history Marshall has, and Red is someone we are so glad to have in our Marshall family.”

The Huntington Quarterback Club Luncheon will be held at the newly named Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall. Lunch will be served at noon. Cost is $15.00 for Quarterback Club members and $20.00 for non-members.
