Do some of you remember when there was almost on a nightly basis a post about how we have no chance of winning any basketball games with kids from WV? I do. Glad to see so many finally jumping on the Band wagon. The more the merrier , the next few years are going to be as fun as the Huck years! Go Herd and Go make the sportswriters eat crow Danny!!!!!!

Lots of naysayers finding it hard to eat crow and humble pie with so much egg on their faces :D

Enjoy the ride...it's been a lot of fun.

Not to sound like a "I told you so" kind of guy. But I saw most of these guys last spring practicing. I could see the taken we had. Watching practice all through October really convinced me these guys could play. I was a little taken back by the 0-6 start but from watching practice you could see Jon was going to make a huge impact once he became eligible and then healthy.
I still watch them practice and everyday I am amazed at all the shots we make day after day and the speed in which we play.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a few sitting out like last year. Player development and additional team chemistry should help next year to get off to a better start. For the first time in a few years; I don't see any addition by subtraction because of attitude.

Herdmeister from Magnolia.....I agree with your post. From the beginning, I stated MIKE would not come to Marshall to coach basketball because he loves being involved in the NBA. However, DAN would be an excellent choice. Some of the youngsters cried...."My gosh, he is about 66 years old." Age is only a number. I will give the youngsters a kitchen pass....I guess when you're 33 years old & below...you view a 66 years old guy as your grandpa. Now, DAN is 68 like many of us...and he is helping pack the house (The Cam) as witnessed last Saturday against ODU [500 more folks and all seats would have been occupied]. Both you & I have know Dan since we were students together in the mid 60's @ Marshall. I met him in junior high playing against him (Mt.Hope vs Mullens). I never knew we would become cuz-in-laws & great friends. He hates to lose in anything...a D'Antoni trait! He told me in October..."Sweeney, we will start slow, however, THE TEAM will be exciting & WINNING when it counts---February & early March."

I am happy Huntington is ALIVE again because of HERD Basketball. Everyone loves & supports a WINNER in football and now basketball. Winning Sports Teams drive most Universities. Admissions grow, $$$$ flow because folks (alumnae & fans) want to be "a part of the good things their University is doing on Saturdays & during January-March Winter nights."

Closing, if some folks are not on board now---I have no clue what will get them supporting HERD HOOPS! I am happy Uncle Lewis is still alive to watch Dan & his team.

Meister....I will see you in Birmingham in a few weeks. BRING ON THE (WV) HERD. There is going to be a LOT of GREEN in Alabama & I bet a lot of it is======Kelly Green.

BTW...the guys in Gold & Blue are having a Hell of a year too and this is GOOD for our state.

It is certainly fun watching Herd hoops again. Yep, I'll see you in B'ham. No doubt this will be the largest contingency of Herd fans at a tournament since the MAC days in Cleveland. It's been pretty lonely for me and the other 10-12 Herd fans that have been to sites such as Tulsa, El Paso and Memphis.
I really wish we could have had this team when the tournament was in Memphis. That is such a great tournament venue and an easy drive to get there. Herd fans missed a lot in not making the trip there.

Told you guys to be patient at the beginning of the year and was blasted , not just regarding Danny but the program in general as well as the kids he was recruiting. While I did not expect 20 wins I was going to be happy with 15 ( a lot said that would not happen , the 15). Well here we are in the middle of a fight for the top spot in C-USA and have the 15 wins I expected for the entire season with 4 regular season games to go plus the tournament , 20 is a distinct possibility.

So , not going to go with an I told you so , just all be happy the program has developed somewhat quicker than many thought. Are we there yet..heck no..long way to go , but you have to admit going from 0-6 to 15-6 in the last 21 games is pretty darned good all things considered. Is 12 losses acceptable , no not by a long shot...but we have made some serious progress over the course of the last 21 games. (Never should have lost to UAB or UTEP during this stretch..but those two games are another story.

Go Herd

Before the season started, I thought if we could get to 15 wins I'd be happy with our progress.
