Air force thunderbird jet crashes. Pilot ejects safely.

Navy blue angel jet crashes and pilot is killed.

US army truck accident during training at ft hood. 3 soldiers dead, 6 missing, and more injured.

Bad bad day

There were four crashes of U.S. military jets last month in May.

Following the crash of two Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets involved in a collision on May 26 off the coast of North Carolina as well as a crash of a USAF B-52 in Guam earlier in the month, Fox News asked Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook if the secretary was concerned about the state of US military aviation.

“There is some significant investment in this budget, aggressive investment in terms of trying to deal with readiness issues, but we're not going to solve this overnight,” said Cook.

The four Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aviators were rescued following a safe ejection into the Atlantic Ocean, with local fisherman picking up one of the jet’s crew.

In early May a USMC Harrier jet crashed off the coast of North Carolina, but the pilot ejected safely and was recovered.

Fox News recently traveled to four US Air Force and Marine aviation bases, where pilots complained that their flight hours had been cut in half.

Almost 70 percent of of USMC F/A-18 Hornets cannot fly right now, and a similar amount of heavy lift CH-53 helicopters as well.

In the Air Force, half of B-1 bombers right now are not mission capable

Thanks Obama for cutting the military budget. No wonder he backs down all the time, he knows he has put us in a position where we can't walk the walk.

the Blue Angel pilot stayed with the jet instead of ejecting to save civilians...

"From USAWTFM, paraphrasing:

CPT Jeff Kuss experienced catastrophic engine failure shortly after takeoff. He stayed with the plane till the end in order to safely guide it away from the residential area he was heading towards, sacrificing himself to avoid civilian casualties."

"Picture of my daughter's apartment 40 yards from crash site, just over the privacy fence. That's how much he saved. A hero through and through"

No surprise half of B-1s are not mission capable, we have been using them a lot against the ragheads. Considering they were pretty much designed to be used once and then the world had ended, that's not too bad.

Not just B1-s. It is much of planes and helicopters.

If we had to fight a big one right now we are screwed.

We won't ever fight a war like we have in the past. A big build up where we need 800 bombers along with 200 tanks just isn't going to happen. Now with that said what we do have needs to be as close to operational ready as possible

herdfan 429, 200 tanks is nothing. LOL. The day we get down to only 200 tanks is the day we probably are not here anymore.

And, yes, yes we will. We continue to use tanks and bombers. Hell, we still used B52's every day.

Don't get caught up in everything being video game war and some navy seal with a Bouie knife saving the day.

It doesn't work that way. IT is truly astonishing to what the American public thinks some time.

We will need infantry, tanks, cavalry, artillery, and everything else as well. Have things changed yes? But, some things are the same thing. In fact we probably have gotten away from some of that stuff too much.

You do realize that drones just don't go bomb a target. Somebody is on the ground.

First of all I know 200 tanks is nothing. It was rhetorical. War is changing. We won't be storming up Omaha beach. We won't need 300 bombers flying sorties over Berlin.

Uwhh they said that after ww1. And ww2. Korea..Vietnam. desert storm which was the largest mechanized warfare since ww2. Oh and we used that stuff in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Just because was used doesn't mean the tactics were the same. That's my entire point. We don't need to use 300 bombers to carpet bomb an entire city hoping we can hit one weapons factory. We can hit a window. In that same weapons factory from miles away with a drone.

True. But we don't have any weapon that can take ground and hold it other than muddy boots on the ground.

That's the facts.

Taking politics and weapons and tactics out of it. That was not the intent of my post.

We have 9 dead soldiers at Ft Hood.

Message from Pegasus 6: With great sorrow, the 1st Cavalry Division concluded search operations earlier today after yesterday's training accident. We now mourn nine fallen Troopers who will never be forgotten. As the extended Cav Family grieves together, we wrap our arms around the loved ones and teammates impacted by this tragedy. We offer heartfelt thanks to the dedicated professionals from the state of Texas, Bell and Travis counties, the City of Killeen, Fort Hood Department of Emergency Services, troopers from the division and others for their tremendous efforts during search operations. Your continued prayers in the days and weeks ahead are greatly appreciated. As we go through this difficult period, I am confident that our strength and bonds will grow. The First Team has always been resilient, and will always be.

People who believe that war has moved past rifles and tanks and planes are mistaken. War is still territorial control and only someone like Obama (and Clinton) think you can fire a couple of missiles and call it a day. Killing a person with a drone strike does only that, kill a person. That's a benefit until the next day when somebody else takes their spot.

There will be another large conventional war and it will be against China. We will have to be able to hold lines.

Eh, we will still have air superiority over anyone out there. The big mistake was cancelling the F-22 program and dumping tons of money into F-35, which is great at nothing.
The f35 sucks ass I haven't seen anyone that likes it. The powers tithe tried to make something everyone and instead fvcked up everything about it.
