WASHINGTON — The latest attempt by some Republicans in Congress to discredit the Trump-Russia investigation has been embraced by Russian bots and trolls on social media.
The Republican message is being amplified by Russian propagandists, according to independent experts.

#Releasethememo" is now the top trending hashtag among Russian bots and trolls on Twitter and other platforms, according to the German Marshall Fund's "Hamilton 68" website, which tracks Russian influence campaigns.

The president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., also employed the hashtag in a tweet Friday morning.

The story is getting major coverage by right-leaning news organizations, including Fox News, Breitbart, the Washington Examiner and the Daily Caller.

You do know twitter looked into that and said its not true right?

But a knowledgeable source says that Twitter’s internal analysis has thus far found that authentic American accounts, and not Russian imposters or automated bots, are driving #ReleaseTheMemo. There are no preliminary indications that the Twitter activity either driving the hashtag or engaging with it is either predominantly Russian.

Trump is going to testify under oath to Mueller (the under oath part is irrelevant since lying to the FBI or federal investigators is perjury). This will be good since the “best deal maker” and “very stable genius” is so quick on his feet, uses the best words and is “like, really smart” he will ace the interview I’m sure.

oh look, the democrats are back to blaming russians on social media for everything. democrats really are sheep.

Seriously?!? I posted an article with a twitter source and you comeback with this?

I most certainly did. Check out the graph there and here's what is said beside it.......

"The charts and graphs here display hashtags, topics and URLs promoted by Russia-linked influence networks on Twitter. Content is not necessarily produced or created by Russian government operatives, although that is sometimes the case. Instead, the network often opportunistically amplifies content created by third parties not directly linked to Russia. Common themes for amplification include content attacking the U.S. and Europe, conspiracy theories and disinformation. Russian influence operations also frequently promote extremism and divisive politics in Western countries. Just because the Russia-aligned network monitored here tweets something, that doesn’t mean everyone who tweets the same content is aligned with Russia. For a detailed discussion of this dashboard’s methodology"

FROM THE COUNTER LINK POSTED ABOVE:
Russian influence accounts did, in fact, send an outsize number of tweets about #ReleaseTheMemo—simply not enough for those accounts to reach the top of Twitter's internal analysis.

It is also still unclear how Twitter is measuring what counts as Russian propaganda. As The Daily Beast has extensively documented, Russian troll farms use cutout accounts to launder their message in order to appear authentically American.

PRETTY SAD WHEN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS ENCOURAGING HELP FROM RUSSIA.
EVEN SADDER THAT THEY ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO UNDERMINE THE FBI AND THE U.S.A.
SADDEST OF ALL IS THAT THE CONSERVATIVE BASE IS COMPLICIT AND DEFENDS
SUCH TRAITOROUS ACTIONS.
TIME FOR CONSERVATIVES TO PUT COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY FOR A CHANGE.

THE COUNTER POSTER WAS OBVIOUSLY MISLEADING THE BOARD, BY TRYING
TO MAKE IT SEEM HIS LINK SAID SOMETHING THAT IT DID NOT. HIS LINK IN FACT BACKED UP MINE.

And Fox News peddles that shit too.

You're telling me you have no desire to see that memo? I despise Twitter and try to avoid social media as a rule but if something continually gets referenced in other forums, I'd like to at least see it. It's the same with the Steele dossier.

I tell you honestly - I think about 2/3 of this board are Russians.
they are sure not americans.

Let's put things in perspective: we have an investigation of Russian meddling in our last presidential election and numerous intelligence agencies have said Russia did meddle. A man above reproach, who honorably served in Vietnam and led the FBI through one of the toughest, if not the toughest, periods in time for this country in terms of safety and security, who was selected by a Republican and confirmed with no objections at the time, is leading the investigation and is now being attacked with his integrity being questioned. Countless lies have been told about denying meetings with Russians and then about the purpose of those meetings with Russians by trump campaign team members. Two campaign team members have pled guilty already, two others have been indicted on numerous charges and those charges include conspiracy against the United States and money laundering with Russian entities. Russian bots and operatives are now attacking the FBI and a few Republican members of Congress, one of which who met secretly with the President while leading an investigation involving the President, is peddling a narrative of corruption within an agency who has served this country honorably for years, with no supporting evidence. It is a sad day for America - members of Congress attacking a non-partisan investigative and law enforcement agency who defends this country and looks out for its well being for political purposes, to question the integrity of an investigation. Meanwhile, this administration has done nothing to investigate the extent of meddling by one of our longest standing and most fierce adversaries.

Let that sink in.
