Ryan Yurachek on fans boycotting the Southern Miss game

I will be there, as i am every thanksgiving, using my vacation time to watch the Herd... Its too bad we live in an all or nothing world. I dont think anyone on here hoping for changes in the coaching staff is somehow not supporting the players/seniors but apparently thats how Yurachek perceives it.

Is there really a boycott? Last night's game was like watching somebody churn mule feces through a Plah-Doh Pastamaker, but the pasta got made and it was exactly what we figured it would look like when it finally hit the plate.

Who woke up this morning like "This is NOT what I signed up for"?

Most likely will give the tickets to one of my drivers so he can take his kid. The kid doesn't care about the OC, the HC, or the weak schedule. He just wants to have some popcorn and cheer for Marshall.

I support the players but to hell with Doc and Legg. If changes are made at the OC position then I'll be back. It's sad that the players are even frustrated with this staff. You can absolutely see the frustration on their faces. Especially on Yuracheck face and his expressions last week against WKU. If you guys are fine with getting beat by a team 9-7 that we would should have beaten, then enjoy the mediocracy that Doc and Legg put out every week. This is NOT Herd football.

Yurachek had 2 catches yesterday for 7 yards total. He has a right to be pissed. But he should direct the damn anger towards where it rightfully belongs: Doc, Legg and/or Chase Litton. How many more times will we see the Herd, on a 3rd down possession play, run some pass pattern SHORT OF THE STICKS?? Somebody has to chart this crap, and then some Coach, Doc, Legg, receivers coach, etc., has to bring it up in skull sessions, or in actual practice. Run to and beyond the sticks when you need a first down. If Chase is throwing too early in the pattern, then he, the QB coach and the O-line personnel and coach need to see where the problem lies. Damn, Doc and his staff need to start EARNING their pay!!

Agree 100%

If I were Mr. Yurachek I would be pissed at the OC and Head man for not getting me the damn ball. He's a stud TE and has been the most under utilized one that Marshall has had in years. After the 2 or 3 TD's he had in a early season game they have totally went away from him. Buts what you get from two morons who couldn't coach a pee wee team.

Perhaps Ryan is not pissed at the play calling. Maybe (just maybe) he's upset at the teams' execution. Or, maybe (just maybe) Ryan was double teamed and was not an option for Chase (he did try to force one to Ryan on Saturday that ended up in a pick). My guess is that the Players and Coaches are more frustrated than the fans with this past Saturday's performance because they are simply more invested.

So then what is it, Paherd? Is it the damn schemes, as many Herd fans think in blaming Doc and Legg? Or is it how the players are executing the schemes, which is or should be a reflection of coaching, again Doc, Legg and rest of O staff? Or is it, perhaps, maybe the players/talent is just not that darn good, which again goes back to Doc, the "super recruiter"?
Or, perhaps, you can think of a Fourth reason, other than a combination of all of the above three.

Oh, then there is the 5th possibility, Mike Hamrick's personal FAVORITE, "Its the FANS FAULT".!!!

I don't believe coaches suddenly forget how to coach or that they coach to lose. I also don't believe players play to lose. Our offense this year is averaging slightly more yards per game than in 2016 and the defense is giving up significantly fewer yards per game. I do believe this coaching staff now thinks that controlling the ball and keeping the defense fresh is the way to win games. So far this year, we've seen this play out. In the games we've lost, we have a negative turnover ratio. Now, most of those are interceptions which Chase has taken some chances (at the wrong time in the game) because he believes he can "fit it in there". I love the confidence; however, he'll benefit from learning when to make that throw and when not to (note: punting is not a bad thing). Some of the interceptions I would place on the receivers. For example, the Pick Six we threw in the FIU game was on the receiver as he never sold the defensive back on the deep route (getting him to turn his hips). The receiver immediately looked for the ball and the DB jumped it. In support of this, several times during the UTSA game you can see our Receivers Coach frustrated with receivers as they came off of the field likely for not running the right route. Coaching them up is what the staff is there to do. I also know that 18 to 21 year olds don't always listen. So, I believe in our case execution is a bigger contributor than scheme. My reasoning is based on the turnover differntial. For every negative turnover, your chances of winning are reduced by roughly 15%. Now, if you want to fire someone my reasoning won't help. I remember when we fans wanted to fire Kueck, Peterson (a couple of times), McHale, Galbraith, Nuenz, etc. On to Southern Miss!

We were a much better team running the hurry up offense and 100+ plays a game. Yes it put pressure on our defense, but when you have a below average offense that goes 3 and out too much anyways, what can it hurt to turn the tempo up and see if a rhythm can be established. This has had me scratching my head a lot this year. We are just not good at ball control because we frankly can't keep it long enough or score any points doing that, BUT what do I know, I am not a coach, just a fan.
