There was probably an inner circle of 20 people or less that knew about it during that White House meeting. IMO, in this specific case, no one ran to the press with anything. The Russians visited with Pres Trump....the WaPo needed a reason to keep the Russian "hacking" story on the front page. Attempting to claim poll result speculation and reports by legitimate news agencies about meetings being the same thing is being more than a little intellectually dishonest.

Look at McMaster's own words. His statement was that "at no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed . . . "

Well, no shit. The article didn't claim those things. In fact, the article clearly states that sources weren't discussed, but rather, info from those sources that could lead to their identification

This is an administration that has attempted to manipulate and play games with words. This is yet another example for the simple-minded who don't do well with reading comprehension.

Let's look at cheeto's response. He has a long, repeated history of denying even the slightest of criticism. In his multiple tweet response to this, he never denied what the true accusation was against him. He simply argued that he "had the right" to do what he did. Well, again, no shit the article didn't claim that he didn't have the right as president. That wasn't the point of contention. Cheeto, who usually challenges any criticism, completely ignored what he was really being accused of doing.
