So you're shooting the messenger and not the culprit? Don't you think it was only a matter of time before the situation was going to go viral?
What’s completely wild about the situation is they could have just ordered a box of ketchup and provided good customer service. I haven’t eaten there yet, but I have heard they have decent chicken. When your a restaurant customer service is key to your survival. What a dumb hill for a business to die on.
I work downtown, and they have been at full capacity with a line every day this week (besides Tuesday) when I walked by going to lunch.
Not condoning the customer service, or the videos. Just an observation that I found interesting.

Huntington didnt run them out, they ran them selves out by not listening to their customers. Real simple.

I dont see parking as the issue. The Hall of Fame would have the same parking problem, but yet they are doing well it seems. Backyard, and the Peddler would have the same parking problem, but they are doing well it seems. Now all of them are for the most part , seat down, eat in places, while Crispis is a carry out only place. Yes they have seats, but the food is packages for carry.
Agree. Never understood the parking argument. Every time we visit one of the restaurants you mentioned, I always drop of the family and park in the garage across from the arena. There's no charge and always plenty of parking.
IMO, parking is a non-issue.

However, 'no cash, no ketchup' aren't great features to start a restaurant in Huntington.
Chick-fil-A is well established with, what a lot of people regard, a great product. For the most part, they can afford unforced controversy.
Chrispi wasn't.

one would think since the Mayor Steve Williams was at the grand opening, he could sign an order that all people in Huntington need to go to Crispi's once a week so we can keep them open. He could even pass out $9 food vouchers to ever citizen in Huntington only good at Crispis. ( take the $450,000 of city money he spent studying what to do with Harris Riverfront park, by the approximate 50,000 people of Huntington) Now just think if Crispis had invested in Ketchup, they may still be open. You'll eat your fries the way I say or go somewhere else. They went somewhere else. Just following management orders.

Nobody has made that claim. In fact, people in this thread have said it is really good to pretty good food. They just don't like their package, something your daughter has never said about a guy, because everybody knows that chicken isn't worthwhile if the package they put it in isn't made of porcelain and marble.
And of course, nobody would ever want to eat chicken if ketchup wasn't available, right?
You can get chicken anywhere. Bojangles. KFC, Chick-fil-A, Roosters, Foodfair deli, etc. They apparently ran a ahitty place with shitty service.
Everybody loves fried chicken. But you can't run a bad place. Too many other places to.go.
Funny, Huntington was great with crowds in that place the first several months they were open. Then the managers go on a podcast and blame everyone but themselves for the downturn in business due to Ketchupgate. But yeah, it's all about race. No it's not, never has been. In fact the town and citizens supported it well due to Moss's association with the place. Isn't he black? The managers were nut jobs.

The crack business has been very lucrative in Lil Detroit. Tyler Whiteman isn't leading that business.

In Huntington, that is exactly right.
That's by far the primary demographic in the area.
Every one of your posts implies that this restaurant's failure was mainly the result of racism.
My wife & I ate there once during a somewhat slow time between lunch & dinner.
The place was not clean, the service was slow and process of placing our order and receiving our sandwiches and fries was clunky.
Based upon this experience, we didn't return...and we wouldn't have regardless of who was running the joint.
You are correct in that there is a racist undercurrent in this tri-state area, if not most of the country.
In Huntington that means that a black-run establishment needs to be well above acceptable, not sloppily managed.
As far as 'speaking out', as the guy trying to run a business it's not wise to verbalize your personal feelings when the main complaints are about ketchup. Afterall, the one demographic in Huntington that crosses all races in this town is that one that wants ketchup on their fries.

So according to WOWK's updated article Crisppis might actually not be permanently closed.
In the article they claimed to have gotten in touch with the property owner, Crisppis owners and Randy who said they are still committed to Huntington, and are brainstorming the path forward. They are still paying rent and are "very communicative".
