I agree that media throws fuel on the fire any chance they get. That's the nature of the beast and more the reason why these types of incendiary statements by Phil need to be gagged. My thinking is even though it is a team sport, when you stand over a putt or a drive that's on you. Not the captain, not your partner...you. You either nail the drive and putt or you don't. The US has lost because they haven't. Phil's need to blame comes off as childish and passing the buck. Even if it's true, it's something that should be handled internally and not in the media. After losing 6 out of the last 7 and 8 out of 10, it's time for the US to do it on the course and not in the media. Sutton was right...when Phil stuck his three wood into the fence that's on him.
That being said, Willet's brother screwed up too with his rant against the US fans. But that's a players brother and the Euros moved quickly to separate themselves from the statement. Here's what he said...
