Really, when did this happen? Where they have to comment on every items, show up at every disaster, be emotional, and be involved in every detail of American life?

Was it the news cycles that caused it? Social media? Softening of America?

Why do we need a President to do that? They are the Chief Executive of the country. They don't need to show up and be involved in everything. We used to be a hardened independent people.

If the Republicans would put out a candidate that wasn't afraid to fight in the right moments (that is, pick and choose their battles), but carried themselves with some semblance of class and implemented Trump-like policies, they'd never lose another presidential election in the foreseeable future.

It's for the benefit of the President, not the people affected by a disaster. Optics. Makes it look like he gives a shit. Some Presidents really do give a shit, this one...maybe not so much. But he has to look like he cares. And even if he doesn't care on a human level, I am sure he is interested in how much money it will take to rebuild shit.

And it's not new for POTUS to show up at a disaster. I know Nixon surveyed areas hit by Hurricane Camille in 1969, and visited Xenia OH after the 1974 tornado.
