I want someone who was actually following the team to help confirm some rumors...

Marshall came to the stadium to run a walkthrough (customary for anyone to do) the night before, only to have no lights on in the stadium...then wku players came in ringing cowbells and hollering and screaming at us.

After wku won, they took a Marshall flag on the midfield area, crumpled it and stomped it.

Can anyone who is credible or a credible source they know, confirm these rumors?

Not sure about the walk-thru, but WKU did run onto the field before the game carrying a Marshall flag and stomped on it on the 50 yard line. That part was on TV.

Brohm and his crew make WVU look like etiquette instructors.

Didn't see anything like that immediately after the game. They did rush toward our sideline. But everything seemed civil. A couple of players who knew one another hugged in long, emotional embraces. Doc stayed out on the field until all his kids were in the locker room -- every last one of them. It was a big deal for them: Bells rang in a tower like World War II had just ended!

Bottom line: We got our hind end beat. Doughty and a couple of their receivers will play on Sunday. They were a lot taller and leaner than we were, especially on the line and in the secondary. Not defending Legg, but we couldn't get anything up the middle or over the top. Litton looked like the true freshman that he is. But there will come another day.

Never encountered the first surly fan. Everyone was nice and conversational. Just country folks. Their stadium is neat but small. It looks a lot bigger than what it will actually seat. Bathrooms very inadequate.

We stayed in Nashville. Vanderbilt is a downtown, high-rise, jammed-up, urban mess,but not as bad as Virginia Commonwealth. I do think MTSU and WKU are nice additions to the league. Both good-sized schools. If the eastern-most schools can come up to their stature, the league will grow strong. May still be back-seat to the SEC and ACC, but not as bad as the MAC is to the Big 10.

When we finally begin to realize we are the Notre Dame of G5 schools and to beat us is a big deal, and that we get every teams best shot, we may begin to play like it.

Still I'm happy with this young team, they played their hearts out.

Word on the CUSA board is our players ripped down an WKU flag at the team hotel and put up an MU flag, thus the reason the WKU players did what they did.

I see a nice little rivalry brewing. Hopefully we can get payback next year. Our offense has a ton of improving to do!

there was a video a couple of girls shot with a phone showing a small Marshall flag flying at the hotel in place of a WKU flag. the girl said some players had taken down the WKU flag and replaced it. the comments said the hotel staff thought it was funny...

it cracks me up how every team/coach that beats us turns out to be Nazi-AlQaeda-BinLaden-ChildMurders after the game...

yet when we win our guys have a notorious reputation (just like when we were in the MAC) about running their chops to the opposing team and their fans.........

Maybe we could get Target to sponsor us. With a big bullseye on our uniforms, perhaps the people who completely missed your point would finally get it. We may NOT have been Purdue's Super Bowl, but we are for damn near every team we've played for years.
