If our soccer players are good enough to win a Div. 1-A national title, can at least some of them be recruited to special teams in our American football program? I know there may not be a need, but considering the talent level, I'm sure at least some of the players would make great FG, PAT, or punters further increasing the chances of success of our bread and butter program.

What if the soccer players set some sort of FG distance record? How cool would that be?
I think Kenny is really on to something here, with a little coaching these guys could be really good. I knew a couple of guys years ago who might have done this, their names were Charley and Pete or something like that. Brothers I think.
Pretty cool concept put out by OP, especially if one were to pretend this hasn't been going on already for the last 5-6 decades.

Considering our current FG kicker struggles to make it from 40 yards and beyond, I'd say anyone on the soccer JV team could do that easily. They know how to kick, how to position thier bodies over the ball, etc.

Thats a BS answer. To get height on the ball you have lean back and come through it, everyone knows that. Merrick handled it easily, as did his brother. Its a very similar move from kicking a field goal to making a goal kick or long ball in soccer. The dude in Quora doesn't know shit. Well, congratulations. The NFL is a mega-billion $ outfit, and, more or less, college is too. They have all fell for the lie that soccer and football are two different sports, where the skill set overlap is so small that it is a oddity that makes news when it happens.
