I am sure that is why they might realize a delay in letters and/or phone calls going on. I am sure they realize the chain of command can't just pen a letter to who they think is the next of kin. There are certain records that have specific people to contact. I am sure they are aware of the sensitive nature of certain troops in certain location.

I agree. Trump has his share of flaws but I believe he respects the armed forces. No doubt he meant no disrespect if he even said that. He gets ahead of himself and just says stuff. Sad someone is trying to get a political point when they

It's called "context". All special forces members and their families know and understand the risks. Its absolutely not "soulless" in talking with grieving families, when attempting to offer reassurance and acknowledgement of the known risks and their ultimate sacrifice.

This is purely a political PR stunt at the ultimate expense of this fallen soldier's honor and sacrifice. It's a shame.

1)There has to be a debrief on the mission, especially a classified mission such as this. IE, the public statement is going have to be made about the deaths.At the same time protecting the mission has to takes place. Could cause a delay. What is classified and where things happened and what the media can know has to be verified.
2)The next of kin has to be notified and yes it can take time. They are unavailable. They have to be found. The correct next of kin has to be notified. This could cause some delays.
3)The families are going to ask questions(rightfully so). See point #1.
4)This has to go up the chain of command and all the way up the chain of command if the POTUS is going to notify. See Point #1 about debrief. And the going up that chain of command.

The soldiers had not even returned to their home states when this got out of hand with POTUS, the Confgress Lady, and Media.

SO, yes what I am saying there a few reasons their could have been delays. Everything from classified mission to proper notification and chain of command.
