I am an airline whore. I don't have allegiance to any one airline. If I can save a couple hundred dollars, I'll fly Jet Blue over United or United over Delta. If you are a bit of an airline whore, too, there is a great offer going on right now.

Years ago, Jet Blue had an all-you-can-jet pass. You paid $500 up front, and it allowed you to fly unlimited on any Jet Blue flight, including internationally, for free (other than taxes and international fees). The pass was good for one month (from early September to early October). There were no blackout dates, no limitation on seats, etc. As long as there was an open seat on the flight, it was yours. During that one month, I flew roundtrip to Bogota, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and a bunch of U.S. destinations all for $500. It was a hell of a deal that they only had for one month in 2009 and 2010 and haven't done since.

Southwest Airlines has a really good deal out right now. For years, they have had a companion pass. It allows free companion travel with you. In other words, as long as you paid for a flight, you can bring a companion for free. However, in order to earn it, you have to fly a shit-ton on Southwest within a year (100+ flights).

The current promotion makes it far easier to get. If you sign up for any of three Southwest credit cards, you get a companion pass through the end of 2019. In order to receive it, you have to spend $4000 on the credit card in three months. Obviously, the faster you hit the $4000 threshold, the faster you get the companion pass. Even if you take all three months to hit the $4000 mark, that means you will have 7.5 months of free companion travel. And it isn't just for U.S. flights. Southwest has a bunch of Mexican destinations, Caribbean destinations, etc. They are all eligible for it. On top of that, once you hit the $4000 in three months, you also receive 30,000 Southwest points which is enough for a free roundtrip flight.

The three eligible Southwest cards come with very modest annual fees: $69-$149. They all have the same major benefits, and all of them are well worth the cost considering you get 30,000 points (a free roundtrip flight) not to mention the companion pass for the rest of the year. The $149 version also gets you four upgrades for the year and $75 in Southwest credit (basically putting the annual fee at $75, a free roundtrip, and unlimited companion travel).

I can't imagine there will ever be another deal like the Jet Blue all-you-can-jet deal, but this one is the next best thing I have seen in a decade.
