Space Force

What makes you think that?

Oh, the anti-big government protesters are questioning why it's bad to make more big government.

Where should we start? Based on cheeto's very vague comments regarding "Space Force," it sounds like he is envisioning a Star Trek spin-off to take over the skies. In reality, the most important part is protecting our assets (namely satellites) that are already up there. However, we've been successfully doing that for, ohhh, only about 40 years. What mysterious group is in charge of that and has been successful at it? This little group called the Air Force. In fact, they have 35,000 employees in an agency to do just that . . . not 35,000 total in the Air Force, but 35,000 in an agency under the Air Force tasked with protecting our assets in space.

So cheeto has lobbied to cut billions for much-needed programs in this country, but he now wants to spend billions more to start a new branch of the military which will make an already complex and complicated Pentagon even more complex and complicated while increasing bureaucracy issues.

Great idea.

Good grief what nonsense

Well, rifle got in on my response before I could which is fine because it’s not much different. One would have to ask what kind of “Space Farce” are we getting for only 8 billion dollars? The Pentagon (the folks responsible to create such things) thinks it’s a bad idea as well. Besides the whole thing started out as a joke to begin with

I don't know about space force. I go back and forth on it. But, I understand the theory as we are in an arms race and are lacking in areas. China is a threat and we have to look to new technology and ways to fight wars beyond conventional means.

Do you believe there is a legitimate need to protect those assets? Does the fact that China, Russia, and other nations are developing new means to attack satellites, including space-oriented communications platfotms, warrant a measured, counteractive response? What about asteroid threats? Is that a legitimate concern?

As for the Air Force and its operations, it's my understanding that both the Army and Navy have something similar, but one of the reasons for the proposal would be to place all of these defense mechanisms under one umbrella. Do you believe that is a sound idea? If not, why?

Ohhh! So we are supposed to listen to this scientist who would have a financial interest in this, but we are not to listen to climate scientists who have a financial interest in that. Got it.

Lack of reading comprehension must be contagious. Where did I say any of that? Where did I leave any commentary whatsoever?

I had already read that. It's interesting, but I think the first half the article hits the point: this is something the USAF has been doing for a long time, since the very dawn of the space age, and doing it at a very high and successful level.

I don't know WTF Pence is talking about with warrior astronauts, this is about shooting down satellites and hyper-sonic platforms and weapons. Unless there is an alien invasion coming that they are not telling us about....
